BSOD - SECURE_KERNEL_ERROR on new Lenovo Legion 5

    Hi,
I have a new (2 weeks old) Lenovo Legion 5 that just blue screened. I'm running Windows 10 x64, v2004 (Build 19041.388). Here is a link to the requested log files: Dropbox - JBP-LAPTOP-2020-(2020-08-05_18-13-18).zip - Simplify your life

The BSOD occurred as I tried to restart my computer. I was having trouble scanning a doc with an HP 8710 OfficeJet (it said there was a communication error with the computer), so I removed the printer and was attempting to restart the computer so I could reinstall the printer. As soon as I clicked Restart, the BSOD occurred. Not sure if it's related to the printer or not. I think it was my first attempt to use the printer/scanner on this computer.

Please let me know if you have any questions or if there's any additional information you need from me. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Jon B

Don't see anything useful in the dump but the system even log shows this:

    Attachment 291356

    Attachment 291357

Looks like you have a hardware problem. Contact Lenovo and have them fix or replace the system. No way a new system should have this kind of problem.

    Download and install: Everything
    voidtools

Launch the application and search for:
    LiveKernelReports\UcmUcsiCx.sys-20200802-0105.dmp
    C:\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMP

Post separate share links for each.

As Ztruker commented contact Lenovo for Return Merchandise Authhorization (RMA).

Thank you both for responding so quickly. Here are links to the files requested by zbook:

    Dropbox - MEMORY.zip - Simplify your life

I have a couple of questions about your response, ztruker:
    - It looks like the errors are on "harddisk2" - does that correspond to the disk numbering in Disk Management? The system drives are numbered disk 0 (C: / SSD) and disk 1 (D: / standard HDD), and disk 2 is a removable HDD, which I think (but am not 100% certain) was plugged in at the time of the BSOD. If so, that suggests the problem is with the removable drive, not the laptop itself. Is that right?
    - Does the error message mean there are errors with the hard drive itself or the controller (I don't know enough to know what that is - is it a device, a driver, or something else)?
    - I ran CHKDSK on both the D: drive and the removable drive and it found no errors on either. Are there other diagnostic tools I can run to identify the specific problem? I feel like I should have more specific information if I'm going to ask Lenovo for an RMA.

    9) wmic recoveros get autoreboot
    10) wmic recoveros get DebugInfoType
    11) bcdedit /enum {badmemory}

    12) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

Thank you for the detailed instructions. I'm working on all the tests (including the external hard drive in question) and will post results when finished. Nothing of note so far.

    - - - Updated - - -

I've run all the diagnostics on the two built in drives (C: = disk 0 / SSD & D: = disk 1/ HDD) as well as the external HDD (Y: = disk 2 / 4TB G-Drive), except that HD Tune is still running the error check on the G-Drive. I've also run the CMD prompt commands and uninstalled Malwarebytes. Unless HD Tune finds something on the G-Drive, all tests have passed. SFC, DISM and CHKDSK also did not find any errors. I also ran the built in Lenovo Diagnostics (just the quick tests so far), and all passed.

I've put all the results in this Dropbox folder: Dropbox - Diagnostics - Simplify your life
I hope that's okay; please let me know if you need me to actually paste everything into the thread, and I will do that. I will also share the HD Tune error checking results on the G-Drive when it finishes.

If I understand these results correctly, it suggests that the hardware is all fine, which means the BSOD was caused by something else (Malwarebytes?). Is that right? Also, if so, does that also mean that the controller errors that Ztruker spotted were unrelated? And does that mean there is a second problem to fix?

I appreciate your help, and look forward to hearing your thoughts.

If the problem is with an external hard drive then that is not a Lenovo problem. Is this external hard drive always plugged in?
The problems occurred from 08/02 15:21 to 08/05 02:21, was it plugged in during that time. If yo remove the external drive does the problem go away?

Hmmm, thinking about it though, the error says detected a controller error on \Device\HardDisk2\DR2 (and DR3). FOund this which should help identify the disk:

NOTE: Disk Management is enhanced in Windows 2000 and later operating systems. You can use Disk Management to view this information without using Registry Editor. To view where a particular hard disk is located in your system, use the following procedure:
    1. Start Disk Management console (diskmgmt.msc).
    2. View the graphical view of your disks. Right-click the gray portion of the basic or dynamic disk whose disk number matches the "Harddisk#" in the error message.
    3. Click Properties. The Properties will contain "Device Type" information that will tell you if the disk is IDE or SCSI, and it will also display the "Hardware Vendor" name of the physical device and the "Adapter Name" it is attached to.
