Bad System Config Info BSOD has caused blank screen

Hi everyone. I've been trying to set up a 2nd hand Advent (PC World's own brand PCs in the UK) desktop, for the charity I work for, that's been pre-loaded with Windows 10. After a Windows update, I had a crash that reverted everything back to stock - this meant I had to reinstall all of the software I had placed onto the machine. After scaling that mountain, I've almost sorted the PC but and it is now flagging a 'Bad System Config Info' BSOD on start up (which after flashing up once has caused there to be a blank monitor)

The PC itself is running. But with no actual display, I'm at a loss how to diagnose the fault. Pulling the gfx card out and forcing the machine to use the onboard gfx hasn't helped. Any ideas?

Can you boot to the Recovery screen?
- Force a shutdown by holding down the power button.
- restart and force a shutdown again
- restart and force a shutdown again
After 3 forced shutdowns the system should boot to the recovery screen.

If that doesn't work, then try booting from bootable install media (such as the media created with Microsoft's Media Creation Tool). On the 2nd screen, select "Repair this computer" link in the lower left corner of the window.

If you do manage to get back into Windows, the very first thing to do is to create a System Restore point.
This is generally the only "easy" way to get past a black screen problem.

I think I may have sorted the problem. I took the PC apart after trying the forced shutdowns, but with no luck........the main board was loose! It fires up ok now. Could the loose screw caused the BSODs?

The BSOD can absolutely be caused by the loose screws - but it's not that easy to make a determination (many other things could cause it also).

Make the System Restore point and then follow the instructions from zbook
