Random VIDEO DXGKRNL FATAL ERROR BSODs

    Hi,
I have Asus Zenbook 14 UX461UN and I'm facing multiple VIDEO DXGKRNL FATAL ERROR BSODs at least once in a day. Those happen randomly, from rightly after login process, in idle state, and when I use it, like for browsing, music, etc. (not using this laptop for heavy stuff).

    - sfc /scannow didn't find any integrity violations
    - all drivers are up to date, including reinstall graphics driver with DDU

    Asus UX461UN
    i7 8550U
    16GB RAM
    Intel UHD 620 & GeForce MX150
    Windows 10 Home 1809 (17763.593)

Here's the link for the DMP and System Info files :
Microsoft OneDrive - Access files anywhere. Create docs with free Office Online.

I've read the dmp files and it seems watchdog.sys and dxgkrnl.sys caused this.
    Please help, thanks in advance

dxgkrnl.sys is frequently seen as a cause when you have video issues.
watchdog.sys frequently (but not always) is seen when there's a hardware problem
Lot's and lot's of video related BSOD's in the MSINFO32 WER reports

All 3 of the uploaded memory dumps are STOP 0x113 errors (VIDEO DXGKRNL FATAL ERROR)
The stack trace on the first dump also shows the nVidia video driver.

So, let's start by monitoring your system temps to see if any of the components show high temps.
You may also want to try running a video stress test to see if that causes the system to crash (monitor the temps while doing this - it can damage the system if you let the temps go much above 105șC (approximately). I have used FurMark and MSI Afterburner in the past for this.

Is the system still under warranty? If so, contact the seller/manufacturer for instructions on how to do this.
Backup your system (also make a disk image if you can - it'll save time if you need to restore the system - or if you want to put it on a new system). Most manufacturer's require you to do a full, clean system reset (to see if that fixes the problem) before you can send it in.

AFAIK, this laptop does not have a replaceable video card, as such (if it's a hardware problem) you'll end up with another system (and the system image may help you get back up and running faster.

    Good luck!

Problem solved after I chose not to install PhysX from GeForce driver (from latest version on Asus site). Though I'm still not sure this is a hardware or software issue. For comparison I read this post (different brand, but same UHD 620 + MX150 combo), and he solved it by downgrading from Windows 10 1809 to 1803.

And I want to know how important PhysX is? Is it better to downgrade to 1803 with PhysX installed or stick with 1809 without it? I don't do much gaming on this laptop, only CS:GO, Football Manager series and some casual games.

In the future, please upload the zip file from V2 log collector directly here, not via another file sharing site.

Also, the Computer Specs in My Computer don't match what I'm seeinf in the dump. Can you update your specs please or add a 2nd computer, it supports 2.

The latest dump 7/29 9:23PM shows a video problem:
    Code:

    Ok I'm sorry :)
And yes, I have listed my laptop as my 2nd computer.

The driver I use is the latest from Asus site. The last time I use from GeForce (around 4th of July), BSOD also happened but that time the collecting info progress stuck at 0% for almost an hour and I turned off my laptop with holding the power button. Can I expect that do not happen again with the latest driver from GeForce?

It's worth to mention that this problem is really strange. I thought it's because the PhysX driver causing this, with nvlddmkm.sys (afaik it's PhysX software) to blame. After I only installed GPU driver BSOD doesn't happen in two weeks. Now from WhoCrashed app there's the same file again but with different location (system32/DriverStore/FileRepository folder). Also I have this feeling that it's also happen after I fully charged my battery and after checking / installing update from Windows Update. I have drain my battery, charged it, and then turn on my laptop Windows Update disabled (from services.msc) and everything seems normal here.

    Any explanation please? thanks

All I can tell you is what I see in the dump. Did you try the latest using DDU and not installing PHYSX as you did the driver from the ASUS web site?

Same BSOD happened again after a week since the last crash, and 2 days after I upgraded Windows 10 to 1903.

I just removed previous driver using DDU and installed the latest version from Geforce (431.60). I hope that'll solved it.

    Will report back!
