    BSOD occasionally after updated BIOS?

    Hey there!

On the 9th of february I updated my BIOS to the newest version without any errors (atleast that's what it said) because it was long overdue since I'm using a Ryzen processor and the BIOS was a year old at this point.

Ever since I've received two BSOD, the first one being:
    KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED right at the 9th

    and the second one being:
    DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    What failed: portds.sys onthe 13th.

Today I also had troubles booting up the PC (took his 2 tries) which makes me starting to get worried.
I also updated the chipset drivers on the 9th from the ASUS website btw.

Hope I can get some help, I ran the Log collector tool in advance.

    Thanks a lot.

Please fill in your system specs
Please follow this tutorial and download the tool. The tool will give you detailed information about your system specs, please fill in your system specs more completely including PSU, cooling and other used stuff like mouse, keyboard, monitor, case, etc.
The PSU, cooling and other stuff are NOT mentioned in the tool.

In the left corner below in your post you find 'My System Specs'. After clicking it you can find a link a little below that says 'Update your System Spec', click on this link to get to the page where you can fill in your system specs.

This is the reported bugcheck from the crash dump file:

    Code:
    INTERNAL_POWER_ERROR (a0)
The power policy manager experienced a fatal error.
    Arguments:
Arg1: 000000000000010e, The disk subsystem returned corrupt data while reading from the
        hibernation file.
    Arg2: 000000000000000a
    Arg3: 00000000000049c6, Incorrect checksum
    Arg4: 0000000000006d74, Previous disk read's checksum
The explanation suggests that there might be some disk corruption or bad sectors that have corrupted the hibernation files. Turn hibernation off and fast start off for now and see if it makes a difference. Please run a full chkdsk and let the system make any repairs. The following tutorials will help:

Enable or Disable Hibernate in Windows 10

Turn On or Off Fast Startup in Windows 10

Drive Error Checking in Windows 10

Read Chkdsk Log in Event Viewer in Windows 10

Thanks for the reply! IIRC the BSOD happened a few minutes after (<30) after starting, last one being when I was browsing with chrome so not sure if that means anything regarding hibernation.

Anyways I've deactivated both hibernation and fast startup using "powercfg -h on" as well as checked both drives for errors - none.

Not sure if that was the issue but I'll report if it fixed that, might take hours / days to get another BSOD or startup problems. If there is anything else that my files say that I could check/repair please lmk.

    Thanks a lot!

"powercfg -h on" enables hibernation. "powercfg -h off" disables it.

No bluescreens but since it never happened before it might be the same issue:

In the last 10 minutes my screen twice got black for a second and then back to normal as if the graphics driver or something screwed up (however I didnt get any error message). I've ran the log collector tool again.

edit: Before I posted here in the BSOD threat I already used DDU to uninstall my old grapgics card driver and reinstalled the newest one to make sure that thats not the issue btw.

edit2: Something is going on here. My game (WoW) keeps crashing with this error https://i.imgur.com/eejODtW.png and my Chrome extensions say that they crash as well (that pretty much never happens. Tampermonkey and Ublock Origin just crashed as well in the last 5 minutes)

You might want to reseat your GPU to ensure it's properly seated.

Alright, reseated the GPU that and cleaned my PC in general from dust and put new thermal paste on.

Additionally installed a different Chipset driver because the one from the AMD website apparently is older than the one from the ASUS website where my mainboard is from. I still believe it is a software issue because all this happened after updating bios+chipset driver. Passmark memtest86 also said 0 errors so ram should be fine.

    Will report if anything happens
