Well, I think that's your problem, but not sure.

Is there a way to turn touch off on your lappy?

That might seem obvious, but I have used my laptop with touchscreen without a problem for over a year. It was only when an update happened in July that this problem started up.

OK, but the update may not support this sorry to say. We'll not give up hope, though.

I cannot find the model number w2k84ua#aba on the HP site nor anywhere. I can find w2k86ua#aba or w2k81ua#aba.

Do you have a link on it at the HP site?

Thanks. I'll look at it. In the meantime, do a search the HP site for a similar problem.

Is the BIOS updated to the latest?

Use key combo > WinKey/S > Type > troubleshoot > Press Enter or click > Run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.

Have you tried to run that "HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI" at all with the secondary monitor plugged in?

There's also that "HP Connection Optimizer" in the "Utility-Tools" section there.

    Have you found anything?

After 4 hours of scans, nothing with the hardware is wrong. I know this is extremely frustrating. If it helps any, I did get the start menu to stay static on the second screen but when I moved my cursor there, I just got a spinning circle like the computer was working. I can click on anything on my desktop though, it's just the start menu that can not load.

Hi there. Yes, another day in Paradise.

I'm thinking it's your video driver that's not compatible with either the update or your particular setup.

Open Settings > Personalization > Scroll down to Multiple displays > Turn off "Show Taskbar on all displays".

If that doesn't work, try downloading and installing the next older driver. If that works, trouble is Windows Update (WU) is going to update the driver, but there's a way to block that.

That didn't work either. I know this is very frustrating. I've tried reloading all windows apps since the problem is with the start menu because everything else seems to work.
