You're welcome gremar. :)
Hello Benf,
I also was having hyperlink issues with Outlook and Excel. I think it may have been Firefox that caused the issue, BUT I am happy to say your registry entries fixed my problem. Thanks
Chambo.
After spending many hours following Google suggestions for getting hyperlinks (in Outlook, etc,) working again after resinstalling FireFox, I stumbled across Benf's suggestion for adding the five Registry edits. Finally, something that works. I'm back in business now.
I've bookmarked this webpage out of fear that W10 will inevitably get screwed up again. Thanks, Benf.
Absolutely brilliant!, Tried numerous other ideas but simply copied line by line got "operation completed successfully" each time. And presto it works again.
Many thanks
Cornelis
After wasting much time, found this solution and it worked. Great.
Thank you! The registry edit worked. I thought it didn't at first since there was no change however I got the brilliant idea to restart my computer and voila! All is well again, mail hyperlinks are opening in my default Chrome again. So FYI for anybody else that thinks this fix doesn't work, just restart and then try.
Edited to add: I spoke too soon. This fix worked exactly once. I closed mail and the next time I opened it I'm right back to hyperlinks "unable to open" error unless I set my default browser to Edge, which I really don't like! This started happening shortly after the last Windows 10 update so I can only assume the latest update caused this issue. I guess with all the reported problems with just about every forced update I should glad this is the only issue I am having.
