Clicked "Automatic Sync", it was also a failed attempt at automatically syncing??

So I went to enable 2-step authentication.


I put in my phone number, and press next. Then this happens:


Obviously I'm doing something wrong. What am I doing that's not correct?

Those unsuccessful sign-in attempts might well be an MS glitch. It happened to me last year.

As for, "What am I doing that's not correct?", perhaps you are merely entering a phone number that you have entered before - that's what they are saying.

I understand that my phone number is already registered. But I'm trying to switch the Two-Step thing from off to on. That's the only route to go through, to where I have to type my number. And that error happens.

They are asking for an additional method - "one more way".
Your phone number is not additional, it is an existing way not "one more way".
You could instead add another email address as "one more way", for example.

I don't want any other way. I want phone number only...
...ugh. I don't want to add more apps to my phone with its millions of apps from other things, and I only use this email address. Okay cool.
