    Ran out of memory and Edge

    I frequently get a notification that I have run out of memory when running Chrome. (Running Windows 10 32-bit with 4GB RAM. I've tried recommended solutions such as emptying cache, but the only thing I've found that fixes the issue is to reboot. I ran the Windows Resource Monitor app and found that 3 Edge exe files are consuming lots of memory. This blew my mind because I uninstalled Edge and it mo longer shows up in the app list of uninstallable programs. Can anyone explain what is going on and how to wipe my computer of Edge once and for all?

    Hello mburwen,

    Just to verify, do you have the page file enabled and set to be managed by the system?

    @Brink ,

    Sorry for the question directed at you, but I read awhile ago that setting your page file to the same min and max would perhaps help a hard drive (SSD) for some reason or another and keeping the file the same size all the time of the pagefile.

    Do you have any insight or is there any evidence you have heard of this as well?

    This is my actual settings on my computer right now.

    Hello @Napkins333,

    Sure, that setting is fine to use when you want a set custom size for the page file without it changing. You can always manually increase the size if needed if you should get an out of memory type error.

    I think browsers usually use more RAM so that they can run faster.

    Edge might be running in the background because "Continue running background apps when Microsoft Edge is closed" is enabled. Go to MS Edge, Settings, System, and disable the feature.

    Also, I think Chrome or any other may be used without having to uninstall Edge.

    I checked and the paging file size is set to 1279 (running Windows 10 32-bit). I have 4GB physical RAM. I have no clue if changing the paging file size will help, but I will try some larger settings to see if that helps.

    If it's set to be managed by the system, it should automatically increase in size as needed.

    Totally depending on how much you use your computer,
    you honestly have to save up some and just buy a new computer at some point with min 8gb ram or 16gig ram for todays standard to be honest..

    With 32 bit Windows, the max ram supported is 4 GB.
