Win 10 Mail App setup/configuration issue

    Win 10 x64 V1903 b18362.1082 + upgrade to .2004

(Background: Windows Live Mail got corrupted by the recent 2004 upgrade – since fixed with help of this board).

As an option though, I looked at using the Win 10 Mail App instead and that’s what my question is about.

I understand that if you have signed into your MS account (or is it your outlook email account) then Win 10 Mail remembers the email address and sets it up by default in the Win 10 email app.

That’s created an issue because it fails to receive any email through that account and I cannot check / change the configuration details eg. to use IMAP

I cannot remove that account, nor can I open the config and change it via manage option.

When I add a new account configured as IMAP then it works as expected but, then I have two email accounts and have to select which account I want to send from etc. etc.

Is it possible to reset the Win 10 Email App so I can start from scratch and just add the one account via advanced setup – like I used to be able to.?

Try resetting the Mail & Calendar app in Settings - Apps - Apps and features - Mail & Calendar - advanced options.

Just waiting for the system to re-apply the 2004 update and will then back it up and give that a shot.
    Will post back result. Thanks.

Reset did not work unfortunately - same issue exists.

I don't recall adding that email account and I can't 'manage' it to to look at its configuration nor can delete it. That account is the correct email address but does not show any of the emails.

Mail tile, or in All Programs > Right click > Uninstall.
It is in the MS Store, so easy enough to get it back.

I have been using the Mail App for 5+ years with more than one MS Account and have never had any auto account entries.

It is all done automatically when you Add an Outlook Account, there are no outgoing/incoming servers listed just Sync options, so it is IMAP.

    @Helmut

Uninstalled App, re-downloaded and re-installed - issue persists.
That Account entry in the Win 10 Mail App must be corrupted as it does not retrieve messages, can't be managed (edited) or removed. If I check on Sync, it just goes round and round and says nothing to download.

Thank you for your help but in the mean-time, I have reverted to using the fixed WLM until I can figure out what is happening.

That Account entry should not be there.

I would suspect some virus or malware.

You can use the SFC and DISM command line stuff to check on your Windows installation, guides are on here in the tutorials.

I would also go to your Outlook Account via the Web Interface and check settings, links etc.
