Gmail Can't Open Hangouts; Not That the Computer Owner Wants to!

My friend has a new HP Laptop computer with Gmail on it.

For some reason, it keeps telling her it can't get into Hangouts, or something like that. She's never used Hangouts, but when she tries to download her email, it just sits there and spins. She has to close the computer and reboot.

Anyone got any ideas?

You mean Hangouts is a plugin? I'm pretty sure she didn't install it on purpose!

So I suppose it depends upon what email client she is using.

That's interesting Callender. The only reason I thought it was a Chromebook is there's no app nor extension for Gmail as far as I know and Wynona mentioned that Gmail was on the laptop.
