IE Yahoo Email logon automatically opens Edge? :(

    .

Today on this laptop, I opened IE and tried to log into yahoo mail. I had just yesterday been forced to accept win 10 ver 2004 (autodownloaded and installed) and now am unable to access yahoo mail without it automatically opening edge (with IE saying this website doesn't accept IE). In IE 'tools' 'internet options' 'programs' 'manage add-ons' I see in the toolbars and extensions: 'IEToEdge BHO / Microsoft / Enabled / 32/64 bit ' WTH is this? I have no way to 'disable OR delete' this thing that IMO installed with the 2004 Ver of Win 10. I do have win 10 Home on this laptop it (reminder) just updated itself to Ver 2004 / 19041.388 . How do I get this 'redirect' add-on removed/disabled? When it redirects it says the website isn't available any more for IE (my wording) BUT my PC with win 10 Pro accesses IE yahoo email without any problems? Why is MS MAKING ME use edge when IE still is a viable browser?

PS: Edge loads far too much crapola and takes up a huge amount of bandwidth (which I have limited ability of). WAY TOO MUCH advertising/popups!

hi you can always roll back to the previous version of win 10 so your case be 1909.

    A couple of points:
    1) Yahoo Mail has not been compatible with IE 11 for some years. So directing you automatically to Edge is a good thing.

    2) I have Windows 10 version 1909 and the IEToEdge BHO was last installed on 2nd August 2020.
Rolling back to 1909 does not work.

IE 11 is becoming less viable as a Web Browser as time goes by, it will not be updated. Everyone knows that.

You need to go through all the settings of the new Edge so it is more to your liking.

You may have to have 2 way conformation set up with IE 11 and Yahoo mail (cellphone # and yahoo.mail password)

:) Jaycee, pretty basic here do not own a cell and never want one. Have no need to be available every second of every day. I have a landline and an answering machine for things needing attention at my leisure.

:) Helmut, been fighting Edge conversion for quite a while due to its bandwidth hogging pimping and click-baiting crapola. I had the idea of removing the registry references (less than 10 entries), would that take care of it or am I asking for a system restore adventure? On another note, are the enterprise folks who continue to use win 7 (paying quite a premium for it) also having to move over to that standalone (POS) Edge as well? Finally, I don't think there is a way (yet) to eliminate all those popups and click bait ads swarming into my internet connection bandwidth. MS is a revenue generating monster, I doubt they would allow users to stop the very thing they tie your hands together with so slower internet customers can have the speed of browsing they want. Might just have to live with it.

:) oscer1, having 10 home means it would just install again and Helmut referenced it would not work. Guess that's a no go?

:) Thanks guys, if anyone has some good suggestions that'll stop all the popups and click bait ads in Edge.... :)

We I beg to differ you have 10 days to go back to previous version be exactly the way it was. Then you can delay the update from installing. But IE is so out dated I would not use it anymore I use the new edge no issues at all.

Hi Everyone, When you open Edge you can choose custom, and turn off the content, and the image if you want, if this is what Mega wants.

Hi, You could install Yahoo as an app following Brink's tutorial. I have done it with Gmail, and have it in the taskbar.

oscer1, Today I tried to system restore but it did not get me back to before the 2004 upgrade. Just went into programs and features in control panel, but did not see how to 'go back'. Went into the windows-old folder but didn't see anything that would reverse the upgrade either. Kindly point me in the right direction? After that, I have no idea how to 'put off' the automatic upgrade (this is 10 home). Thanks!
