How do I open calendar items?

    Greetings,

I already tried asking this in Microsoft Answers.

My previous Edge was set up properly so that when I clicked on an .ics file it opened Outlook. However, with the new Edge, clicking an .ics brings up the Save As dialog box. How do I correct this?

When I go into Windows 10 Settings > Apps > Default apps > Choose default apps by file type, it shows the iCalendar file correctly associated with Outlook. The new Edge seems to have its own separate settings.

I tried to use Edge legacy instead, but it also lost the correct file association. I'm now using Firefox, but if I can fix it I can go back to Edge.

    Thanks,
    Shane.

    Hi Shane

The new Edge has been completely rewritten with Chromium (the platform that Chrome has been built upon).

So I assume that the new Edge would be very similar to Chrome in most respects.

In Chrome, the way to do this would be to:
    1. Download the file (Save as)
    2. Click on the side button, just right of the file that has appeared on the download bar at the bottom
    3. Select "Always open files of this type"

I believe the new Edge would have an option similar to this.
