    Thanks.

Applying a bit of common sense now; what ever is contained in my Drive 0, if the computer works & boots up successfully surely if Aomei is simply copying the drive, if I need to restore, the image will work as before!

That's not how imaging works, assuming you're using normal disk imaging.

A full (initial) image file contains a compressed version of the used space of the partitions imaged.
Subsequent differential image files represent the difference between 'now' and that image file.
Incremental image files represent the difference between 'now' and those in the previous sequence.

You will not be able to recover your system without an AOMEI emergency USB-Recovery stick.
You are still on an old Recovery Partition. How many update-failures did you ignore?

    Hi!

I have an AOMEI bootable media on a disc which has worked ok on my laptop.

By "update failures" are you referring to Windows updates?

If yes, I've never had a failure

    OK, that winre.wim is useless!
    last update: 2020!
You have to download the last Media Creation Tool to get a new one.

You also can check your 2nd computer (Laptop) with that above given command. If that has a newer one you could copy that.
Just replace partition2 to 3 (what I guess) or post a windows screenshot of diskmanagement

    Personally I would
    1. run a backup of C-Partition
    2. run a clean installation
    3. recover the backup from step 1 to (C:) of step 2

You'll forgive me for asking this but where is all this leading up to?

Are you saying I have a corrupt OS which if I try backing up (using any 3rd party app), the restore would fail?
