How can I monitor a running Macrium Reflect backup?

I run daily Macrium backups, using the grandparent, parent, child template. Once a month, a full backup runs, and it takes many hours. One is running today. At least I think its running. Here's the problem.

There's an icon normally in the system tray which I believe is called ReflectMonitor.exe. When a backup is running, you can click it and watch the progress of the backup. But often, that icon disappears. When that happens, I do not know how to monitor the progress. So I watch the Macrium System Images directory on the drive where the backup is written. Today, after 8 hours, I still see

And I do not see a Log for today's backup.

Task Manager shows five Macrium processes running, and one of them is using a fair amount CPU, Disk, and Power. So is that a clue the backup is running? Is there a chance that one of these processes is the monitor?

In C:\Program Files\Macrium\Common\ I see ReflectMonitor.exe. Is that the missing monitor? I hesitate to run it right now in case it messes up the backp. But if so, I will pin it to the taskbar and not depend on the frequently-disappearing icon in the system tray.

Make a shortcut from: C:\Program Files\Macrium\Reflect\reflect.exe to your Desktop. Then Pin it to the taskbar.
Then you can watch it's progress bar, as the backup is being made.

These Taskbar icon "progress bars" are built into Windows 10... why not use them.

I believe it will only show progress if you use it to manually start a backup. My backups run on schedule. So when I pinned the shortcut to my taskbar just now, it does not show progress, as in your example.

    That's possible.

The icon may be auto hiding itself. You should be able to click on the taskbar & choose show or hide icons on the taskbar. Then choose Macrium icon.

If I open taskbar settings and then "select which icons appear on the taskbar" the list appears to be corrupted. For example, there are eight calling themselves Macrium. Seven of them have a Bluetooth icon. The one that's turned on (the one with the Malwarebytes icon) is supposed to be the "watcher" but it's really just another copy of the UI watcher that tells me that an update is available.

The ‘UI watcher’ are the individual updates for Macrium. These entries can be removed with Brink’s reset notification area icons fix:
Reset Notification Area Icons in Windows 10 You’ll have to re-add any you wish to see in the notification area after running this.
The icon I’m referring to only shows when a backup is running.

That's the one I want (the one that shows when a backup is running). Thanks for the reset notification area icons fix. I'll try it!

Today while the backup was running, the ReflectMonitor.exe icon appeared in the notification area (where I quickly dragged it to the taskbar) and also at top of "Select which icons appear on the taskbar" settings (and the "switch" was turned on). When the backup completed, the icon disappeared from both places. Maybe this how it is supposed to work, but the behavior seems unusual.
