Alternative way to access restore points?

Hi My win version is 2004 OS Build 19041, 685
Problem" since last update my magnification soft ZoomText 10.1 wont start anymore. Im visually impaired so i need said soft most urgently.
Trying to install last ZoomText update again did nothing
So I tries to use a restore point No dice.right click on won symbol and then on system gets me the grey loading screen with the cod symbol for a second or two then it scrolls to top of screen and disappears nothing else happens. Please let me know if there are other ways to start a restore to a certain point in time. Avast and malwarebytes both claim the system is clean so i have no clue what could have messed up the update

Once you have the computer applications setup again to your preferences make free backup images.
Then if there are any future problems you can restore an image.
Images can be backed up to another disk drive or the cloud.

    System restore is not reliable.
Imaging software include: Acronis, Aoemi, EaseUS, Macrium, Paragon, etc.

Macrium is widely used in Ten Forums:

Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect

    For troubleshooting:

    Run:

    - Click here to go to the BSOD batch repository to download and run this batch file.

Create a new user or switch user accounts to see if it makes any difference.

Try clean boot to see if it makes any difference:

Perform a Clean Boot in Windows 10 to Troubleshoot Software Conflicts

An additional troubleshooting option may be uninstalling the latest update(s).

Hi zbook Thank you for your suggestions. I will run the batch and let you know what comes from it. I used Acronis and Macrium before. Its my own fault not having done so on this rig. How would I go about uninstalling the update? Is there a way to call the applet directly? Win + R still seems to work.

As to Restore Points, I've noticed the Version Upgrades wipe out any that have been made and create a new one. Builds probably do it too. Such actions do rewriting of the Registry or parts of it. Before installing new programs I manually create a new point "just in case".

For such restore points as you do have, the following tool still provides some insight: 2 Ways to Access Windows System Restore Backup Files • Raymond.CC.

Thsnk yiu EdTittel. Ill check it out.As it seems I fell victim to a major scam. Creators of zoomText (a $700 Soft!!) claim that as windows updates it becomes more and more incompatible to their soft..But instead of fixing the problem they want to sell mr a $80 subscription. I hope they rot in hell for that.Either way factory reset with blocked update should work for now

@Leticron: Ouch! That stings. Hope you find a way to get yourself squared away without having to spend more $$$.
