Windows (7) backup and restore for Windows 10 Pro.

I recently switched off schedule (in backup and restore) and now backup and restore is frozen.

    I followed your link,

It did reset however, when I click on setup there is no response.

There IS response and I am able to:
    Create a system image
    Create a system repair disc
    But NOT able setup

Hello Raymond, and welcome to Ten Forums.

I just tested resetting Windows Backup on my system to see if anything may have changed, but I was still able to set up Windows Backup afterwards.

Double check to make sure the Windows Backup service is enabled and running.

Go ahead and post some screenshots showing what you're seeing instead to see if anything may stand out.

Odd. If you like, you could do a repair install of Windows 10 using the method in the tutorial below that should fix this without losing anything.

Not being that computer literate, as well as on the wrong side of 68, I'm hesitant to go down this route, I'll re read through and try to process, to make sure I fully understand the format to follow, then, will maybe give it a try.

Thank you very much for all your assistance and patience.

    It's simpler than it looks-
    - download an iso file the same as your current major build (what is your build number?)
    - rt click and Mount the file (post back if Mount is not visible)
    - open the new drive letter created in file explorer
    - run setup.exe

The procedure is like upgrading to the next build, but takes your build number back a little. Like any upgrade, pretty much everything is kept.

I am so scared to do anything I'm not familiar with and making a mistake, I think I must take my unit to a computer guru or someone that can do it online through easy desk or team viewer.

It's not worth paying something that's old and out of date and not maintained.

The way to protect yourself is to use disk imaging regularly and routinely. So often recommended here - Macrium reflect (free-paid). This creates a compreessed copy of all the partitions selected, and best to save that on large enough external storage.

Look at it like this: Windows 7 Backup and Restore is
    a. old
    b. not recommended- even by MS which recommends a 3rd party solution be used.
    c. there's a clue in the name- Windows 7

Rather than bother fixing that, move on- use a proper robust and regularly updated solution to back up your system - Macrium Reflect (free-paid) instead.

When you have a proper set of images you can go back in time when something goes wrong.. and you're protected even if any imaged disk fails.
