I have found down the years, it is always best to upgrade Rescue Media regardless. It has been known to go a bit wonky if you do not. I am always certain it will be fine ( I test it of course).
As do I whether I think it needs it or not but I always alternate flash drives as we have had at least one instance where the new media didn't work.

" if you have a working rescue medium "..............its working fine ( WinPE) , besides ; no other bugfixes are mentioned ( resque-media) , except the WinRE-version..........

I always keep a couple of old isos for exactly this reason. The times it has gone wonky are greater than the times a new one failed in my experience.

    Hi,
I didn't understand this question of WinRE, I updated the free version, do I have to remake the rescue key because the old one is no longer good?

There is probably nothing wrong with your rescue media but it only takes 5 minutes to create so you might as well do it.

    Ok sure!
However it should recognize the image made with the old version?
Another question, if I upgrade to the Home version, shouldn't I have problems restoring or incremental an img made with the free edition?

Yes, the image format remains the same with these minor updates. In fact two years ago when 7.2 came out to replace 7.1 I said...

Actually, just to see if it was possible (or would brick the PC) I made an image with 64-bit UEFI Macrium 7.2 then restored it by booting from a legacy 32-bit Macrium 7.1 usb.

    Disappointingly, it worked perfectly

No, there is no difference between the software installed as Free and that installed as Home. The only thing that distinguishes them is the installed key. Were you to buy Home you just need to change the installed key to unlock the Premium features.

Yes, The image formats have not changed. The free version doesn't handle incrementals, just full and differentials so in that case I would create new rescue media and it will be good for restoring the old images as well as any new ones you create. You should have no problem creating incrementals based on a full image made with the free edition provided the definitions are the same. MR is very good at deciding what it needs to do if you try to make an incremental or differential and there is no compatible full image. It will just create a new full image instead.

Worth noting that although Free cannot make Incremental images, it can restore them.

Useful to know if you take the 30-day trial, you'll still be able to restore any incremental images you made with Trial after it expires and reverts to Free.

I did wonder whether it would do that but I've never tried it.
