That didn’t work either. I don’t understand it
That hasn’t worked either. I have gone back into the boot menu and selected the usb as the main hd to boot from. It just loads to the login screen every single time.
Maybe its something about how you made the USB. To make a USB that will be certain to be bootable, download the Media Creation Tool and follow the steps in Option One of this tutorial.
Download Windows 10 ISO File
at step 6, leave the 'Use the recommended options for this PC' box checked.
at step 8, select 'USB flash drive'.
Thanks. I’ll have a go and let you know how I get on
could I do this from a dvd
if you choose to make an ISO rather than a USB with the Media Creation Tool you should get an option to burn to DVD after the ISO has been downloaded. Alternatively, you can right-click on the ISO later and choose 'Burn disc image'. I'm not sure if the ISO will fit on a single-layer DVD, it may need a dual-layer DVD. I'm downloading a 1709 x64 one now to check on that.
I’m Just 20% of the way through doing it on the usb. Going to hunt out a dvd now.
i disabled the hd earlier to only give it the option of the usb, but didn’t recognise The usb as boot media. If this doesn’t work, could it be a problem with the bios?
I have a 4.7gb dvd. I don’t think that will be enough for an iso.....
