One of the preview builds had a similar issue - duplicate namespaces show in Explorer.
Try toggling the drives off, restart explorer, then drives on:
Drives in Navigation Pane - Add or Remove in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums
A disk management would better show the disks.
- Download dmDskmgr-vg.zip (contains dmDskmgr-vg.mmc)
- Open the compressed folder, dmDskmgr-vg.zip
Double click dmDskmgr-vg.mmc to launch it
Press the Open button if prompted Do you want to open this file?
Answer yes to the User Account Control prompt- Press Alt+PrtScn to grab a snapshot of just the Disk Management window
Open Paint and Ctrl+V to paste it, then save the image
- Attach the image to a new post
Not to change the path you are already on, just a mention - Clean install?
Make a fresh copy of all personal files to the external drive.
PassMark Disk Checkup
PassMark DiskCheckup - SMART hard drive monitoring utility
Once the program is installed, open it and highlight the disk:
Under the tab SMART Info, look at the Status column - everything should be OK. The Predicted TEC (Threshold Exceed Condition) Date may show a date if the particular attribute is moving, and a calculated failure date will be shown. Keep in mind this date fluctuates, and the program should be kept on for at least 5-10 minutes (or longer in some cases) for the attributes to settle in.
Click on the Configuration button, and make the following settings:
Then click OK.
Here is an example of an attribute which is moving/changing and based on the movement over the time the program has been open, a predicted failure date has been established. Keep in mind, that this date can change or even disappear, if the movement of the attribute stabilizes. So, it's important to watch the attributes over time, if there is any movement.
Go to the Disk Self Test tab and run the short test on the drive. It will only take a few minutes.
That's it. :)
Lizzy, that is good news!
I want you to go to Device Manager. Right click that Touro drive, USB something, and completely uninstall it, drivers and all. Leave it unattached. Reboot the laptop. Wait a minute or two for the system to settle, then plug the Touro back in. Windows will re-install the drivers. Open the Touro drive and DELETE the backup folder we created earlier. Then, create the folder again, just like you did before. Retry the backup.
I uninstalled the Touro from device manager but it did't give the option to uninstall the drivers. how do I do that?
Hi Simrick, have a look at my post 41 for details.
