    McAfee Pop Ups

I keep getting these pop ups every time I start the computer. I now have a full screen one I can’t get rid of despite trying task master and restarting computer. Any easy fixes? I’m not very computer savvy. Thanks

    Hi, A couple of possibilities:
    1. You are seeing spoof popups from your browser.
    See:
    https://www.mcafee.com/support/?loca...l=article-view

    2. Popups from e.g. trial software.

Here I'll have to assume you have a McAfee product installed on your PC- maybe a trial one on a new PC you've bought?

I will assume you wish to uninstall it, as there's little to go on from what you've said- and no screenshot (picture) of what you're seeing.

In general there are 2 basic ways to uninstall security programs.
    1. The normal uninstaller
    2. A tool you download from the program's site.

    Please see:

think i've been hit by similar, i'm getting a pop-up in the corner of my screen saying "system alert" you're infected.
turned off the wifi, scanned, found nothing, powered off, restarted, got the pop-up again when i activated the wifi. did a windows offline scan, got to about 92% and restarted but hasn't given me a report or anything, activated wifi again and got the pop-up again help please!
malwarebytes scan found only a PUP of something i know, not an issue, pop-up is still there,. have cleared Firefox and then uninstalled it.

what can i try next? :-(

    @wolfie138,
I suggest you open your own thread as OP has McAfee pop up and you have an alert of virus.
    What anti virus you're using?

As this message is via Edge or another browser then yes, it is suspicious, you should backup your favourites then close Edge/browser, either by clicking on the X, by ctrl, alt del & then open task manager & find Edge/other browser entry & click on this & choose end task. Then open Edge/other browser & it will offer to start afresh, you can then clean the browser’s cache, cookies & history. If this isn’t enough you can reset Edge by Right-click on the Start button in the lower-left corner and select “Apps and Features “. Scroll through the list until you find “Microsoft Edge”, click it, and then click on the “Advanced options” link. Next, click on the “Reset” button. For other browsers then they also may have a reset feature, if not then you can uninstall & reinstall the browser.

right, i think this is a panic-over thing - after a bit searching it seems this is simply a browser notification trying to get me to do something stupid, as the site i went to had asked to allow notns - i've reset all that and no popups

did a search w/ MSERT and it found 4 infected files anyways, not sure what they were.

    cheers all.

Good to hear. I’d still consider resetting the browser or clearing cookies just in case though.

That’s the downside but at least it should ensure if any of the cookies were suspicious then they’re gone.
