I've set bitlocker to encrypt my drive.

It said I need to reboot for encryption to begin.

    1. How do I know the percentage complete?
    2. Can I shut down system beofre first time enryption is complete?

How to use BitLocker Drive Encryption on Windows 10 | Windows Central
The encryption process is not complicated, but it can take a lot of time, depending on the drive's amount of data and size.
Keep the computer connected with an uninterrupted power supply (UPS) throughout the entire process.
the UPS is a little OTT but certainly do not turn it off and IF it was a laptop - use on mains power not battery only.

Re restart - I thought the procedure automatically restarted the computer to begin the encryption - I may be wrong but I believed one of the Bitlocker windows on the procedure actually told you the computer would restart - certainly if you run the Bitlocker check to ensure all is ready to encypt - I thought that windows said the computer would restart.

I do NOT use Bitlocker but would from experience of working on forums such as this URGE you to ensure you have a complete system image. I have seen so many problems posted regarding BITLOCKER -when a repair of windows has been necessary - and indeed reported problems with access to a Bitlocked drive even when the user insisted he was entering the correct pin/key

Thank you, I always learn something new from Brink's tutorials.

I never used Bitlocker in my life so please excuse my beginner's question.
