    Opinion on Malware Issue

During a full scan, WD discovered Trojan Downloader: JS/VDEHU.A which was removed. Subsequent scans were negative. I normally full scan twice per week.

    - Would appreciate opinions/advice on the following.

    - How much is Defender at fault for not blocking this downloader ? Realize that no AV is perfect.

    - The trojan was located in AppData/Local/Google/Chrome/UserData/Default/Cache/f_000821(G Zip)(Script 0010)

    - Could Chrome have prevented ?

    - My search tells me it could be a false positive ? Anyone experienced the same ?

    Thanks !

    This Microsoft link displayed:
This threat downloads and installs other programs, including other malware, onto your PC without your consent.

Nobody in Ten Forums that I'm aware of regularly troubleshoots Farbar scan results.
There are other websites that have people that regularly use this tool.

To protect your financial accounts consider backing up files and performing a clean install.

Many of us use Microsoft defender and Malwarebytes.

    .
I have never used Farbar scan. I did do a full and offline scan with WD and a full scan with ESET.

Feel pretty confident the threat is gone, just trying to determine what happened. Intend to do a clean install with the upcoming May update 20H 1.

    Thx !

This is the Microsoft link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi...tid=2147731176

Farbar is regularly used in bleeping computer and Microsoft Technet.
One of these days someone in Ten Forums may regularly use the application.

ESET, Norton, Mcafee, Malwarebytes, etc. can remove malware.
Questions may remain about peripheral damage before the malware was uninstalled.
