You might try a clean boot to see if there is a conflict somewhere.

...and most of it is nothing to do with the System Resource scan anyway. To extract just the SR parts, see Option Five in this tutorial.

That's a possibility, but at this point I'm thinking that the hard drive may be failing and causing corruption. Read it's SMART data with CrystalDiskInfo, I'd use the portable version that can run from a USB to avoid as much as possible any further writes to the hard drive,

CrystalDiskInfo Portable (disk health monitoring) | PortableApps.com

In particular, look at the raw value for 'reallocated sector count', for a healthy disk this should be zero.

Reallocated sector count is not displayed on my CDI version (8.3.0). Can I get this reading any other way, or tell CDI to show it?

Reallocated Sectors Count is SMART data ID 05, All available SMART data from your HDD should be displayed. I've never yet seen an HDD or SSD that doesn't have the 05 data. What model of drive do you have? What does CDI show as its list of features?

Make sure that you haven't ticked Function > Advanced Feature > Hide S.M.A.R.T Information.

Managed to get a reallocated sector count from the graph in CDI and it's gone from 1 to 3 since the start of the year. Time for a new drive?

It's nvme and I've had it for about 18 months.

Sounds like you've ticked Function > Advanced Feature > Hide S.M.A.R.T Information. Untick it so you can see all the SMART data.

An SSD with any reallocated sectors sounds like bad news. What does SMART ID B1 'wear levelling count' have as a raw value? What are the Total Host Writes?

Most SSD manufactures have their own software for testing and managing their SSDs, Samsung's Magician for example. What brand do you have, does it have a similar utility?

CDI is only showing ID's from 00 to 0F:Virus scan options missing - quick scan only, advanced scan crashes-new-picture-2-.jpg
"Hide SMART" is not ticked; tried toggling it, made no difference.

I've ordered another drive, in any case - I'll Macrium Reflect my install onto it later in the week.

What SMART data is available is vendor-specific. It's odd though, ID 05 is usually 'reallocated sectors count'.

As manufacturers do not necessarily agree on precise attribute definitions and measurement units, the following list of attributes is a general guide only.

EDIT: CrystalDiskInfo is showing all the SMART data and their correct names for your SM961 series SSD. See section 6.3 here:
