Advice please, Infected warning in Edge varied web pages, scans clean

Hi,sorry for such a vague title, but it's such a vague thing that's going on, I use 4 web browsers trying to see what happens, but it only happens in Edge, my entire system is fully updated in every sense, including the latest released programs etc, so here goes.

I'm no slouch when it comes to security, but things are just not right, and haven't been for some time, after several clean reinstalls, using newly downloaded Windows direct from m$, using their media creation tool, and fresh downloaded program files, yet it keeps coming back, well 'IT' is all I can call it currently.

I'll start with the quick query, I am under the understanding that Windows no longer has the varied types, e.g. Windows 10 Pro x64\x86 and similar, are all now just Windows 10 x64\x86 ?

I had Windows 10 Pro x64 before this came into being (if I heard right), yet in all my reinstalls always installs the same version, when I download the media tool (afresh every time from m$), the drop down box only offers the tiered variants each time, so I select the version that I have the licence for, namely Pro, any advice as to this query ?

Next is the 'infection', the install is on 2 x 60gig SSD's in raid0, I break the raid, format, and recreate the raid0 on them before each install attempt, yet Edge every so often flags up infection warnings, I instantly close the page when it happens, I don't touch a single thing that comes up, just close the web page via the x on the tab, the sites are not dodgy or anything, well maybe I should say they are 'risky' if you believe newspaper sites don't lie lol, these days I do little more than email, shop and just generally surf what catches my interest, anyway I attach 2 screenshots of today's alerts.

These support scams are often caused by JavaScript found in malformed ads on a web site you visit. As long as you do not click on anything on those scam pages, your system does not actually download anything. Due to forum rules (#12)I can not suggest what it takes to stop them.

Hi Alan22 your system is infected with malicious code, i suggest you clean it with malwarebytes & other cleaning software.
Also those links that is shown in ur brower are not real links just scam links.
Once you clean ur system the issue will go away.

Yeah I know on very basic terms that sites can end up causing harm, even legit sites, Google even got caught out, but I don't have Java on my system, I haven't used it in years, ever since it was identified as a weak spot in security, and neither Edge or Chrome support Java as far as I know (not sure about the others), but that doesn't mean that there is something that may at least in part be used in some way that I am unaware of.

But the rule of not clicking on what you don't know should be installed on a person from day 1, before they even know anything, but failing that I picked up very early on this, and haven't done so from a matter of weeks of it becoming a big issue, and I only say it like that because my 1st system was Windows 3.1, when the fastest thing you could get was dial up, so this was almost non existent back then, so I was able to follow such trends and avoid them by seeing others falling foul, it's amazing to think that a decent mobile phone is actually controlling a satellite in orbit today (unless they have finished that now), and that the computing power that put man on the moon, filled something like Wembley Stadium (guessing as I can't recall), I've stood on a gantry over it way back, scary thing was that all that computing power, could have been achieved on a decent schoolboys calculator.

As to malicious code, I have scanned and have come up clean each time, hence asking here, and why this is such a vague problem that I can't offer much in the way of clues, I have being trying to figure this out for over 6 months now, and reinstalling more than once, I think that the fact that it has only happened in Edge, I think I have to accept that it is as suggested, just rogue Ad's etc trying to trick users into panic clicking on them, everything we tell beginners never to do, so I will just have to try and make sure I use another browser when it comes to that sort of thing.

Thanks for all the input everyone.

    Anyone have any idea's about the 10 v 10 Pro issue ?

You do not need Java on your system for Javascript to run in a browser. Not a Windows 10 issue, you just got hit by a pop-up that wanted to take you to a website to allow it to download a payload to possibly infect your system.

Ah, as I said I didn't know about the possible connections with stuff even without Java, but the 10 v 10 Pro issue is unrelated to this part of my query's, sorry I should have been clearer in my 1st post, I am wondering about downloading, and installing a clean install of Windows in it's own right, when Windows 10 came out I got the Pro version, but I am under the understanding that m$ did away with the different versions, and Windows 10 was now just that, no Pro etc, just the one version, but I only get the Pro version still, even a fresh download of their media creation tool, there is a drop down box where you have to select your version to move on, does this sound right ?

    Thanks for that info.

No, Windows 10 still has various editions, Home, Pro, Education and Enterprise are the main ones. It is also available as x86 or x64.

When you use the Media Creation Tool to make the install media, either as an ISO or as a USB, you only get offered 'Windows 10' to download because this install media contains Home, Pro and Education. The one install media can install any of them, you get asked which you want when you start the install.

You should always install the same edition you had on the PC before, in your case this was Pro. The reason being that this PC is activated with a digital licence tied to its unique hardware ID. A digital licence will only activate one edition and yours is a licence for Pro. It is however valid for both the x86 and x64 versions of Pro. If you tried to install Home it wouldn't activate.

Yes when it needs a specific version I only ever stick Pro down, for the very reason you said, I was just under the impression that they had done away with the variants of it, but if they haven't then that's all good.

Thanks for all the help people.

No, they just did away with the need for separate install media for most of the editions, Enterprise still has it's own install media, but Home/Pro/Education (and their N versions) plus Home Single Language are all in the one install media downloaded by the Media Creation Tool. It just has separate install manifests to install whichever you choose.

You have Home, Pro, Workstation, Enterprise. Pro is the most widely used, because it includes Bitlocker and GPO editing, whereas Home does not. It has zero to do with the different versions of Windows, it has to do with being more proactive when browsing and using a layered approach to stop these pop-ups, etc..
