If you turned on Require Windows Hello sign-in for Microsoft accounts (aka: passwordless sign-in), you will not see the Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer check box.

If your PC is currently joined to a domain, then the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer." box will not be available, and you will need to use OPTION TWO instead.

You did post this in the disable lock screen tutorial, but your "Users must enter a user name and password to use this Computer" question was not related to that tutorial, so I moved it to the this tutorial where it's related.

Are you wanting to not have to sign in at wakeup?

If so, check using the tutorial below to turn off or disable require sign-on wakeup.

If your local account doesn't have a password, you wouldn't see the "Require sign-in" setting in Settings.

You could either add a password to your account, or use option 4 or 5 to disable.

My upgraded machine does not have the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\PasswordLess.

My clean install has the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\PasswordLess\Device key and DevicePasswordLessBuildVersion is set to 2 (which means ON according to the tutorial). Setting it to 0 restores the checkbox in Netplwiz.

So my problem (and @David oap's) is that a) my clean install defaults to 'ON' for that setting, and b) I do not get the switch to turn it off in Accounts > Sign-in options.

It may (or may not) be relevant that we are installing different language edition. Yours would be en-us while mine is en-gb.

I've just clean installed Windows ver 2004 and faced the same issue with the missing tick box in Netplwiz. Had to change the registry value from 2 to 0 to get it back also...

Netplwiz tick box will not be there if this is on. Turn it off.
