New suggestions that I don't see here.
Take Windows out of the picture.
Download an ISO of a live Linux system (Knoppix is comprehensive and friendly to newbies) which has a built-in burning...
It can be useful on laptops for support of the custom power profiles supported by recent BIOS versions (e.g. "mostly plugged in" allows you to stop charging at, say, 90% to prolong the life of the...

Are all of these ports part of the PC itself, and connected directly to the motherboard?
Attempting to boot off a USB add-in card, or external hub, can sometimes fail.
Suggest a conservative approach to driver, firmware, and BIOS updates - if it isn't broken, don't try to fix it.
I have used 3 different external enclosures, which feature dual USB 2.0 and eSATA interfaces, in Windows 10 V1903 using a Bytecc USB3-to-eSATA bridge cable, and they work perfectly.
OK, I'll defer to your real-world experience. In any case I think we agree that he can test the suspect drive elsewhere to see whether it is defective or there is another compatability issue.

None of my comments were intended as personal criticism, please don't think that. I believe the "BD-RW" is encoded in the "friendly name" for the device in the drive's firmware, and Windows is just...
FWIW one of my Win10 installations is on an aging Dell Optiplex tower which came with an internal floppy. The floppy is always having short bursts of activity:

Agree, sounds like a faulty drive. You might be better off asking for a more modern product which is also more likely to be shipped as new; e.g. the LG BU20N, BU50N, etc.
BTW the DVD region code...
Many .EXE installers are merely wrappers for embedded MSI's which require the Windows Installer service to complete the task anyway, so that is not always a useful workaround.
But worse: my own...

This is the...
FWIW my office uses Outlook 2016 and I have the same issue.
Usually it is triggered by scanning through the mail folders in the column at the left of the screen. Upon returning to the favorites...

It's probably a legitimate product which cost about $20 or so at the time; prices have since dropped anyway making the original payout seem not so much of a bargain as of now.. The drive functions...
Thanks Helmut. In a way you are essentially restating my observation that a assembling DIY USB SSD can be a hit-or-miss proposition.
In the OP I indicated that I did not purchase this set of...
A while ago at Micro Center I noticed a bucket of these SSD's at a very cheap price and tossed one into my basket:

Incompatible ACPI BIOS/driver?
On an old laptop I've had similar issues and with each Windows update had to go and manually disable hibernation in order to restore smooth functioning to startup...
Not knowing anything about how Windows does this, I'd suggest using reliable third-party utilities to rip CD's such as Exact Audio Copy or CDex. Might return better diagnostics too -- EAC gives you a...
