Hard drive board was the problem..
Tried all that but finally I've found that the x555l hard drive board (a smallish circuit bard that connects the hard drive to the motherboard) is known to play up and cause this fault. New one...
I've got a problem with an Asus laptop that boots into the BIOS on every startup. I've taken out the old hard drive, installed an ssd to test and am able to go through the installation routine with...
Same connections. One for an M.2 drive and one for a normal hard drive and SSD. I've installed Windows on it with the M.2 and it works well.
Thanks, I'll cancel the order.
I need to get a caddy to use in the future. I haven't got the other PC yet so I might as well get the caddy now.
Thanks for the help.
I've got a solid state M.2 2280 (256gb) hard drive from a dead pc. I won't to wipe it and put it in another computer. I'm not sure what device I need.
Would this one work?...
Nothing backed up from this laptop. Customer has the data elsewhere.
Apparently there wasn't anything important on it. He bought it a few months ago but hadn't got around to using it for his day to day work.
It's ok. I wiped it and reinstalled Windows 10 without any problems. All working well now..
Thanks for the help. Not many people backup their data...
BitLocker is definitely enabled but the good news is the customer says what data is on there is backed up so I just need to reinstall Windows from a USB iso.
It's not my laptop.

I can access the BIOS but there's not much I can do with that
I've just got a laptop in that's running Windows 10. The owner thought he was dealing with his broadband provider as he has been having trouble with his internet. However, it turns out it was a scam...
The problem now seems to be that the power board underneath the power and novo button is damaged. I've ordered another one as it seems impossible to access the bios or boot options without the novo...
Just seen that the ssd was mbr. I've converted it to GPT and will give it another go now.

You could be onto something. Now the progress has passed 43% which is where it...
They will both be Gpt. The source drive is only a few years old.
It's similar to the one in the link.
That's what I tried but it can't format the destination for some reason.
I'll give it a go.

No luck. I couldn't see anyway of selecting all the partitions on the source disk under the SSD cloning option and when trying the clone hard drive option...
What is a decent cloning product that can clone from a larger hdd to a smaller ssd, either paid or free. There's not a lot on the old drive.
It's version 2004 of Windows 10. I'm unable to get to...

Just glad I got it sorted. It was for a friend.
Don't laugh but even though I had tested the ram with Memtest for about 12 hours with no errors, then replaced it I tried a new stick of RAM and it solved the problem. Been working for 2 days now...
