#161
LOL! I promise I have not added to Post #115 since yesterday!
Okay let's recap:
UNINSTALLS
Dell Data Vault
Please try this:
Uninstall Dell Support Assist, then disable delldatavault.exe in Services to prevent it from running.
Genie Backup Manager - DONE?
WD Smartware - DONE?
Avast - DONE?
Comodo - DONE?
TrueCrypt - Done?
Okay good.
That's Trekker, I'll have you know, of which I AM! And Wrath of Khan was one of the best movies they ever made! Okay good, we need Fast Startup off from now on, and it will only have taken effect if you have rebooted, as per the instructions in post #115.
Okay.
CHKDSK C: /r should be sufficient. The "r" implies "f"; "x" is not necessary.
I realise this, but if you follow the instructions in Post #115, there is a reason it should be done, in that order I have listed, as we have made enough changes to the system at that point, where it is warranted. So, it's not only important to follow all steps, but also to follow them in the order I present them. If you get the result "no integrity violations found" on the first run, it does not need to be run again.
Okay. Again, the instructions should be followed in the order presented, so we need to try removing the (missing but maybe there taking up space?) restore points via Command Prompt. (see below)
Try deleting all restore points via Command Prompt:
System Restore Points - Delete in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums
See Option #3
No, I would expect not, as we haven't attempted/accomplished the step above.
Yeah, sorry - this was one of my edits I made yesterday:
EDIT #2: If all this is unsuccessful, I would like you to try a clean boot and then try a NEW TEST Macrium instruction set for drive C.
All of this exercise should have the WD drive physically disconnected.
Nothing until we have completed post #115, in the order presented. :) Just leave it there on your desktop for now. It's what we'll use for the repair install.
EDIT: Ccleaner has cleared out the registry? WD drive is disconnected?
