System & reserved taking up over 100GB of space

My computer was warning me about having limited space left, so I checked what was taking up space on my PC and saw this

I saw somebody recommend TreeSize to look into what was taking up space and saw this

The installer folder and srudb.dat are taking up >80gb all by themselves which can't be normal at all. Is there any way to fix this?

I would do this from an admin account:

    1. Run Disk Clean as admin
    2. Run Wise Disk Cleaner
    3. Run Driver Store Explorer - set to show old drivers and delete the old ones
    4. Analyse and clean clean the component store - see Analyze Component Store (WinSxS folder) in Windows 10

Easy Peasy. Delete SRU folder. See this about how to delete srubd.dat. Anyone else have this SRUDB.dat error all the time?

Run Disk Cleanup for System and check all boxes but Downloads. Also check for programs that can be uninstalled, along with moving any pictures, videos, documents to a external drive.

Deleting the whole Installer folder would corrupt msi setups of installed software, needed for updating/uninstalling. This should suffice for a manual cleanup, run CMD as admin and copy/paste
    Code:
    del "%WINDIR%\System32\sru\*" /s /f /q
    del "%WINDIR%\Installer\$PatchCache$" /s /f /q
    del "%WINDIR%\WinSxS\Backup" /s /f /q

Doing this did save ~30gb but the installer folder is still nearly 50gb (most of which is in >1000 msp's & msi's). Is that supposed to be that huge? This PC's pretty old if that helps (I think 2012)

I would get what you want off and just do a clean install at this point.

There are log collectors used in another forum.

My disk is similarly heavily occupied by Windows. Windows Update couldn't be installed because of lack of free space. I ran the above commands. The first 2 worked fine but the third one failed with "Access is denied" errors. I recovered enough space to successfully install the latest Windows update. Now I'm back to the same issue. Of my 150GB Bootcamp Windows partition, about half is taken by Windows and most of it by Installer. I'm left with 17GB free after running Disk Clean and Wise Cleaner.
    Component Store Analyzer says

    [==========================100.0%==========================]
    Component Store (WinSxS) information:

Windows Explorer Reported Size of Component Store : 4.57 GB
Actual Size of Component Store : 4.49 GB
Shared with Windows : 3.13 GB
Backups and Disabled Features : 1.35 GB
Cache and Temporary Data : 0 bytes
    Date of Last Cleanup : 2019-03-19 00:41:43
Number of Reclaimable Packages : 0
Component Store Cleanup Recommended : Yes
    The operation completed successfully.

Yes, my MacBook is 7 years old but it performs as well as it did initially. I'd rather not do a fresh install.
    So my questions are:
1- How much space should Windows and its accompaniments take?
2- How do I recover the wasted space under Windows?
    Thank you.

You can try PatchCleaner, it is not exactly 100% safe, but in your case, it is worth the try.

Thank you. I will explore that.
What kind of privileges are required to delete "%WinDir%\WinSxS\Backup" with /s /f /q flags? I executed it from CMD with Administrator privileges but received "Access is denied" errors.
