Setting "Preferred DNS Encryption" not available here. Where else?

I want to check what the current DNS setup is here in my Windows 10 Pro v22H2 and if DNS encryption is enabled or not IN WINDOWS (not in Browsers) .

    I followed tutorials like

How to enable DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) in Windows 10

    or

How to Enable DNS over HTTPS in Windows 10

    and went to

    Settings > Network & Internet > Status--->Ethernet--->Properties

...but here is no such Drop Down "Preferred DNS Encryption" like depicted on the two webpage above.

It looks like the attached snapshot.

    So where is it?
    Is this option accidentally disabled?

    Hello Tobias,

You can use step 6 in option five of the tutorial below to change your DNS for this. Cloudflare is good.

That snapshot shows you are using a Public profile.

See this How to Set Network Location to Private, Public, or Domain in Windows 10 tutorial for how to change to a Private profile.

    Hope this helps...

    Interesting. You wrote:

"Starting with Windows 10 build 20185, you can now select Unencrypted only (default), Encrypted only (DNS over HTTPS), or Encrypted preferred, unencrypted allowed in the Preferred DNS encryption and Alternate DNS encryption drop menus. You can add any IP address listed here to unlock the DoH dropdown and choose to use encryption."

Since I still use Windows 10 v22H2 built 19045 (due to famous recent Windows error 0x80070643 bug; unsolved here, locally) I am not able to setup DNS encryption?

What was the solution for enabling DNS encryption BEFORE Windows 10 build 20185?

Is enabling DNS encryption in DHCP server (=Router) the only way?

If you research this you will find that it is or was only available in some Windows 10 Insider Preview Builds.
