    Remote Desktop recurring use

    Hi all.
I am currently using TeamViewer to help my family with their semi-regular computer needs. Regular enough, I suppose, that TeamViewer detected 'commercial use' (even though mostly what I do is install drivers and updates on my family members' computers.
I cannot justify 58$ a month for TeamViewer. So, my question is can I setup Windows' Remote Desktop for recurring use?
I have googled this and searched forums and articles, but have not found a satisfactory answer.
If anyone has experience with Remote Desktop's updated futures, please weigh in.

Surprising! How do you know that ? Were you running 'Commercial Trial' version ? Try to Use 'TeamViewer QuickSupport' & 'TeamViewer Portable' from Down There!

    2. I use 'TeamViewer' but nothing else. I feel its easier & richer with 3rd party apps than the M$ one but they may / may not have limitations! There are some links you may explore as There! & There! . The second link lists some Open Source solutions but not all are Open Source there!
One of my friends recommended 'AnyDesk'. That's not open source but free for non-commercial usage.

    3. If you are eyeing M$ app, There is a good link

    Thanks. ..

There have been multiple reports of TeamViewer harassing customers about suspected commercial use in an attempt to get them to pay for a monthly subscription.
@FUState, check out VNC remote desktop:

    TeamViewer reinstated personal use

I received a message in response to my support message to TeamViewer (in my message I explained how I am using TV for personal use (with details)).

They responded with apologies and an explanation (essentially saying) that they are cracking down on suspected commercial users (though they did not get into details of how they suspect commercial use).

So, I can use TeamViewer for free again. I appreciate all of your suggestions, and if this happens again I will definitely look into the other options listed here.

    Thank you!

Just a suggestion, based on personal experience and opinion: No third party programs are required for assisting friends and family. Windows has a built-in tool for that: Get and Give Remote Assistance with Quick Assist app in Windows 10
