And Image-Health does all of the suggested above..
finds the source Install.*** > supports the use of .esd or .wim
clears the log..
runs the proper dism commands..
All you have to do > is select the option to run...
But, the techbench ISO with an Install.wim - is the preferred source................
I really only needed the answer to 2 questions...see opening post having already used an ESD.install a couple of times prior due to missing Source files, and had already posted the solution on this to other members, with the same problem, also on other forums.
Nevertheless it is to be commended the offers of comprehensive advice willingly given, and goes to show what a brilliant forum this is.
My thanks to all who responded.
I used the MCT to clean install 1903. Is it .Wim or .ESD? I see where Tech Bench is .WIM so I guess the MCT is .ESD?
I ask for the sake of using DISM commands in the future.
Thank you
The windows 10 iso available on the Microsoft website have been esd.
Most other free iso websites have been win.
This has been the typical methods for making iso available.
Administrative command prompt:
dism /Get-WimInfo /WimFile:P:\sources\install.esd
(change the letter P to the applicable drive)
This reads the install.esd and lists info about all the editions it contains.
Where can I find a download site so I can use .WIM?
Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool
Generates genuine links to downloads from Microsoft servers. Those ISO files will contain .wim files.
The MCT makes an ISO with an .esd. You can get an ISO with a .wim direct from the same Microsoft page you got the MCT by using Option Three in this tutorial.
Download Windows 10 ISO File
Currently both 1809 and 1903 ISOs are available.
