Help with Syncing "from" laptop "to" desktop?

    Morning all,

I just did a Factory Reset to my Windows 10 Desktop, and now have to add everything back except my photos, and other personal files. I have a nice laptop now which has all the settings on it though and would like to transfer those to my desktop. Here is the info on both computers and hoping you can direct me so I do this right, if it is possible, thanks for any help, GG:

Hi, you can start with this:
Enable or Disable Sync Your Settings in Windows 10

    - from the huge and invaluable searchable Tutorials section - do feel free to have a look.
More linked tutorials are usually listed after the main text.

Both PCs need to use the same MS account.

When Sync settings is turned on, Windows syncs the settings you choose across all your Windows 10 devices that you've signed in to with your Microsoft account.

My problem is, and I should have clarified I realize now, that I do not want my laptop to sync the info from the restored PC. I need the PC to sync "from" the settings on Laptop. I'm confused by that but if the syncing tutorials which I did search, but nothing came up using the word Sync at all, I will gladly look at a tutorial that explains the "how to" of that.

I just want to understand syncing better before I do this, I would appreciate any extra help before I try it.

    Thank you, GG

Ok, but this doesn't answer my question as I looked at your tutorials and still don't know for sure if I can sync "from" my laptop settings "to" my PC. Seems like this is any easy enough question, but thanks anyway.

Also, is there any way to delete my account from this forum? I can read things on my own, I came here, use to, to get personal help, text is everywhere but I don't always comprehend that, so I'll move on, hopefully won't leave my account on the site.

No, just put up a new site with just tutorials, and maybe AI might work better for tenforums.

It doesn't matter if you are Syncing from Laptop to Desktop, or Desktop to Laptop. The procedure is the same, just follow the instructions in the Tutorial. If you get stuck, after following instructions, then post back with your question and we will assist.

The only issue I see, is that one of your computers is Windows 11 and the other is Windows 10. So, many programs that work on 11 may not work on 10.
The best thing to do is if all of your personal files are backed up, just Reinstall any 3rd party apps (ie) Microsoft Office, Adobe Reader or whatever, reset your settings manually.

That's what I did Spunk, and thanks for your reply, I was also concerned about the diff. in Windows 11 and 10 so I decided to just reinstall my 3rd party apps, thanks again, I can put "solved" here since you made a good suggestion. Thanks again, GG
