First let me say, I am retired (79 yrs old) on a fixed income. I don't really have the funds to invest in a new Windows 10 operating system and I am NOT ready yet for Windows 11.
As others have mentioned - you already have a license for Windows 10. To do a clean install of Windows 10 (or 11) would cost you less than $5 for a USB flash drive.

NavyLCDR how do I get this Flash Drive?

    - - - Updated - - -

Thanks flashh4 and SIW2. That is a lot of good information. I have downloaded the removal tool, but will wait until my 30 day free usage runs out then see what happens.

    Thanks again

Why wait for McAfee to expire if you don't like it? They will just bug you to buy it.

I not found a reliable way to remove McAfee is why I was waiting for it to run out the 30 day free use. I don't see that as a big deal.

Several methods of uninstalling McAfee reliably were given in this thread already. And when it runs out of the 30 day free use period, it's still going to be there nagging you to purchase it every so often. It's not going to uninstall itself.

You haven't yet responded to bobkn's post with the link to the make your own installation USB tutorial. I hope you noticed it.
I agree with the others that backing up your drivers is a necessary preparation for a clean install as is going to the computer maker's support site to make sure you can download any of their currently-pre-installed utilities that you might decide to use again in the future.

If you are not going to clean install then I urge you to do so but if you are not then I urge you to use the McAfee removal tool [that I understand you have already downloaded]
How to remove McAfee products from a PC that runs Windows - McAfee support
I suggest you read the whole thing first. I expect that you will use its Method 2 to do the job.
You cannot use IE for their webpage so open the link in Firefox or some other modern browser.

I once had a fault [only] when transferring very large files across my home network.
    - The fault was fixed by running the removal tool for an antimalware application that I had uninstalled two years earlier at a time when I had never heard of their own removal tools.
    - There had been no prior symptoms, it only affected copying multi-MB files.
    - If it not been for an offhand comment made by somebody in a forum I would never had suspected the true cause and would have had to reinstall the OS to fix the fault.

Much more recently, I had been trying out an antimalware application then uninstalled it using their removal tool.
    - I then found there were small files written by their application scattered over the computer.
    - Not wanting to be caught with a seemingly inexplicable fault in the future, I restored an earlier system image & worked through all the updates & changes to settings I had made since starting the trial.
    - You can avoid any such concerns by clean installing now.

    Best of luck,
    Denis

What PC did you get and how much was it?

I may have an interesting alternative for you.

The Pool Man, I bought an HP PC with 16 gb memory and windows 10. This is the first time I have ever bought a pc from a manufacturer. I have always bought the parts and had someone assemble it. That has become so difficult for me in the last few years because it is so hard to match up parts that will work together. I expect Covid has had something to do with that.

I paid $700 after sending one PC back to HP because it did NOT work and had the wrong OS on it. HP support has reallly sucked big time.

After working with Microsoft Help Chat, I have the PC doing pretty much how I want it to work.

I was asking which specific PC you bought. What I was trying to determine is if it's some kind of tower. Because I like having a PC by my TV as well, but it's been difficult to find a Mini PC (small form factor) that I can recommend.

Normally Minis either lack spec or proper ventilation, meaning they have annoying fans. In these parts I was known as a Mini PC maniac but I had to kinda give up on them and become a Recovering Mini PC Maniac.

But then a YouTuber (who doesn't typically review hardware) posted a Mini PC that amazed him.

I respect Brian immensely and believed him when he said the fan wasn't annoying. I now have one in my home and he's right. It's not silent but it's typically very quiet except for minor surges here and there. 16 GBs of RAM, 512 SSD -- the size of a sandwich -- no bloatware -- currently $539 at Amazon.

(I got mine for $475 but you didn't reply fast enough to get that price.)

It may still be that price here --
