    Computer freezeup

About once a day, usually while I'm gaming on Facebook, the whole computer just stops dead. Nothing works, including the mouse. The only way to get out of it is to shut off the computer and reboot. any idea what might be causing that? It only seems to happen once a day.

Try to use Task Manager to find out what processes are running when this happens.

I've had anti-virus applications cause similar issues.

    1) See this tutorial on clean boot to troubleshoot software conflicts:

Perform a Clean Boot in Windows 10 to Troubleshoot Software Conflicts | Tutorials

    2) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    3) sfc /scannow
    4) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    5) chkdsk /scan
    6) wmic recoveros set autoreboot = false
    7) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

I've had a similar strange bug that I am unable to figure out at all. I'm pretty expertise at computers, yet this bug has been impossible for me to figure out. This bug barely happens on my computer, yet happens from time to time. My bug is that everything on screen seems to have frozen, yet actually responds very very VERY slowly. My mouse does move around though, yet clicking is very very slow.
This isn't really the solution, yet I have found it the quickest way to come back to the computer. See if the following could work on your end whenever this happens again:

    1) Once the computer freezes, press: Ctrl + Alt + Delete
    2) Press Sign out
    3) Sign back in to your account

I just want to point out again that this is not a solution to fixing the problem, yet it could be a quicker way to come back to your computer rather than restarting the computer.

And I hope you find a solution to this bug. I understand how inconvenient it could be.

I have had Norton start using 100% cpu on a whim it seems.
I turned off constant scan and leave that to defender.

Try resetting your graphics driver, use keys----win+ctrl+shift+b.The screen may flicker, nothing to worry about.
Then check your Reliability History for any relevant flags and info in "View tech details".
Next type in dxdiag in the lower left search box and see if any problems are reported in the different pages.

If the computer is truly locked up (frozen) no keys are going to work, so the only out is to power off and power on. Once you've rebooted, follow Zbooks suggestions in post #3.

Also, look at How to View Reliability History in Windows 10

The suggestion to reset the graphics driver was to be done after "nothing works",which required a restart.Freezing is often caused by card or drivers or both and is a logical place to start. If there was a one fix fits all, this forum would not exist.
Amadeus51 quite clearly indicated he shut down and rebooted.

Could you perhaps fill out your system specs on here so we can see what type of system we're working with?
have you considered checking the temps of your computer? have you dusted it out before? assuming it's a Desktop PC.
