Missing drive in send to folder

    Hi,

I am having trouble getting my disc drive back into my send to folder.
I have read some posts here about fixing this. I downloaded the reg. file
found here Add or Remove Drives in Send to Context Menu in Windows 10

I also just tried creating a shortcut and dragging it into my send to folder
and it's in there but when I R click a folder and go to send to the drive is
not listed. At a loss what to try next.

    Winver 21H1 Build 19043.1766

    Thank You

Hi, adding a shortcut should work.. does for me, for both files and folders.

    This makes this really easy:

    Example- just added C:

    Hi Dalchina,

I did add the shortcut but it still doesn't show when
I right click to add a folder and select send to it's not listed.
but yet it does show in my send to folder.

    Could you post
    - a screenshot showing your SendTo folder as it appears using the right-click menu
    and
    - a screenshot of your SendTo folder in File explorer
    Code:
    %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo
in the hope that the appearance / lack of appearance of other items might give some clues about what is going wrong.

after this has been resolved ?

    This didn't work either Add_drives_to_SendTo_context_menu_for_all_users.reg

    Thanks

EDIT: How do I use Send To Toys to fix this problem?

So the problem drive is your CD drive.
    - If, in File explorer, you right-click on the shortcut & select Properties, is the drive letter correct?
    - If, in File explorer, you double-click on the shortcut, does the drive show up as expected?
    - Do other internal/external drive shortcuts work correctly if you copy them to SendTo?

By the way, since you are working with shortcuts that you've added to SendTo, that .reg file is not relevant.

I assume that your File explorer, View menu, Options, View tab, Hide empty drives checkbox is clear.
I've never seen what its effect on shortcuts is.

You can delete any diagrams at any stage if you want to [I don't know why you would want to but that's not relevant].

I know nothing about those SendTo Toys.
    - Perhaps dalchina can comment.
    - Since you are demonstrably capable of copying shortcuts into the SendTo folder yourself, I don't know what the benefit of those toys would be.

I notice that you have set File explorer, View menu, Options, View tab to display hidden items & system items. That's entirely up to you.

What meaning does 'Send to CD drive' have? Which program will then be invoked (if any) to write that folder to a CD/DVD?

Your original post didn't specify you were referring to a CD/DVD drive.

As I said, Sendto Toys is simply a convenience.

    Hi,

Let me try and answer all your questions.

If, in File explorer, you right-click on the shortcut & select Properties, is the drive letter correct?
when I right click on the CD drive shortcut and look at properties the target drive is E:/ which is my
cd/dvd drive so that is correct.

    - If, in File explorer, you double-click on the shortcut, does the drive show up as expected?
When I double-click the shortcut it opens up to my E:/drive and says please insert disc. also correct

    - Do other internal/external drive shortcuts work correctly if you copy them to SendTo?
I have not tried as yet

By the way, since you are working with shortcuts that you've added to SendTo, that .reg file is not relevant.
    OK Thank you

I assume that your File explorer, View menu, Options, View tab, Hide empty drives checkbox is clear.
I've never seen what its effect on shortcuts is.
My settings show all 3 checked and I have now unchecked the 3 that you circled (see ss)
    unchecked now though.

This was changed when I was following a tutorial to get a reg. file and add drives, the one you said
is not relevant. How should I set those options?

I will try and add the shortcut again since I have unchecked those boxes and see what happens.
    Will report back.

Thank you for all your time!

    Hi Try3,

I unchecked the boxes and tried adding the drive shortcuts again.
Then I went to my picture folder and tried to send to a folder and now
the drives show but added the USB twice and no reference to E:/.

To make these shortcuts I am right clicking on the drive itself

Sorry I am confusing myself here with all these ss forgot this one

    - - - Updated - - -

Just out of curiosity I deleted the cd drive from my send to folder
and it still left 2 USB drives in there. Now I'm going to delete the
USB drive make new shortcuts and drag them over to see what
happens, if that doesn't work I give up. It really isn't that big of a
deal. I can always add a burning program to use instead of the
    send to option.

I do want to thank you for all your time, we did get the drive issue fixed
by unchecking those boxes, extremely grateful.

Report back after I try this last attempt at adding new shortcuts

    If the shortcuts are working.

    Run:

    shell:sendto

delete the shortcut you don't want.

OK this is what I tried. Made new shortcuts added one at a time
I first did USB and it showed twice when I tried clicking a folder
to send to, so I deleted that shortcut, tried again and that drive
still shows on sending a folder but it not listed in my send to folder
not sure if that's correct or not but it shows.

Then I tried adding the CD shortcut rebooted and tried another
folder to send to and it still does not show as an option. Not sure why
since I am creating the shortcut from the drive itself. That being said
I give up...haha I will just add a burning program Nero, Ashampoo for
    further burning options.

Thank you to EVERYONE that assisted me!!

Once again, I appreciate all your help and time trying to resolve this
matter for me, it is sincerely appreciated.

Will now mark this thread as solved!

    Enjoy your weekend,
    Mike
