How to identify system hang?
My system is WIn10/64 Home with all current updates. It hangs several times a day for no apparent reason. The hangs happen when using various applications. When it hangs the mouse pointer moves, but does not respond to button clicks. The task bar does nothing. The keyboard does nothing. The screen contents remain frozen and do not change - there is no BSD. My only option is to push the Reset button and reboot.
There is no system dump. The only errors in Event Manager say " The name "WORKGROUP :1d" could not be registered on the interface with IP address xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx", "The previous session did not finalize the tracking file on device \Device\HarddiskVolume1 (W:). The tracking file has been reset.", and "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first." The Reliability Monitor page shows nothing other than an unscheduled restart
I've run SFC/scannow which completed with no errors found. Chkdsk on my Samsung SSD boot drive completed with no errors. Samsung Magician reoports no errors. I have no problems with any software I use.
