    How to verify

When I try to sign into some sites, I am often asked to verify...they will send me a 6 digit number for me to write in to prove who I am.
That information will be emailed to me, but for me to find/see that verification code, I have to sign/close out and go to e mail. And when I sign back in the verification process starts over with a new verification code.. A never ending process.

I do not know how to stay on site and go to my e mail at the same time.

I don't know what browser you're using, but the way it's usually done, is to have the site you're trying to log in to, on one browser tab, and then open your email on another browser tab.

That way, you can still be ON the site you're trying to log into, and at the same time... able to get the verification code from your email.

    Thank you

I use windows 10 and I use Yahoo as what I think is my search engine.. not sure if it's a browser.

So if I'm in Yahoo and search for and go to Say: My Chart for medical info.., and they ask for a verification code...you mention I should go to a different browser...I'm not sure how but thank you I'll try. In a few months I'll be 90 and I'm not too swift on my pc.
any way I use that as an excuse for being dumb..

This is the browser I use... Firefox.
I have four tabs open at the same time. I'm typing this on the first tab on the far left....

I marked each tab with a RED dot for clarity.

There should be an icon somewhere on the top of Chrome, that allows you to open a new tab.

Here's everything you didn't want to know about Chrome, tabs...

Use tabs in Chrome - Computer - Google Chrome Help

I don't know if you're familiar with them, but "bookmarks" are a godsend....

Create, find & edit bookmarks - Computer - Google Chrome Help

And here is general Chrome Help...

Use Chrome at home - Google Chrome Help

And here's a picture to get you ready for the Holidays.

This is much easier if you have an email client installed. (A program installed on your PC).

As you don't currently store email on your PC but use a browser, a small free client which you could just use for this purpose would let you scan for email in a second or two and view the code with 4 clicks or so.

Pop Peeper (free version) sits in your system tray. Rt click it and Check mail.
As it logs in automatically you
    - avoid opening a browser (or separate tab)
    - navigating to the site
    - logging in and waiting
    - then reading your email

I will look at that...I am often afraid to download anything new for concerns about what comes with it.

I've used Pop peeper for years..
POP Peeper: Email notifier - Esumsoft

It's not a full featured email client, but you can configure multiple acccounts (pop3 & imap) and scan them very quickly, then read the email.

It's also possible to use it to send mail- I don't use it for that myself.

I let it scan for mail periodically (option) - it notifies me if there is any (visual/audible, some options), then I deal with it and delete everything I don't want.

Email I want to keep I then receive using Thunderbird.

In your case you're only interested in a quick and easy way to read a few emails with minimal effort.

Windows 10 comes with its own email client built in. It's called Mail.

Add or Delete Account in Windows 10 Mail app
