    Windows 10/64 and Thunderbird

Hi. I have been having problems with sending emails using thunderbird on this Windows 10/64 laptop. I have had it working with AOL SMTP but not with a IMAP AOL or Easyspace private paid for IMAP. I have had an easyspace engineer to link into my computer and he was not able top get it to work. We both agreed that the settings and password for paul@ACME-UK.net was correct. The big issue here is he is using Thunderbird on his windows computer and we both had the same release of thunderbird. He was able to set up my account on his computer. His was using Windows 11. My AOL SMTP is fine. My IMAP AOL is not fine.

Can someone help me here. This has been going on for a month now and I have received updates.

    I use Tbird, not AOL.

    I found for you:

    Email Settings for AOL Email

    Server: imap.aol.com.
    Port: 993.
    Security: SSL/TLS.
    Username: Your full email address.
    Password: Your password.

Use POP or IMAP to sync AOL Mail on a third-party app or download your email - AOL Help

    - expand the details using the blue +

Finding the settings in Tbird is a bit annoying- you have to look and check in various places.

Are you saying 'dalchina' that I should select SMTP on outgoing email that uses IMAP for outgoing emails? I did say that I had an expert who accessed my computer and found the settings to be CORRECT.

    Code:
    Server: imap.aol.com.
    Port: 993.
    Security: SSL/TLS.
    Username: Your full email address.
    Password: Your password.
I have used these setting. They do not work.

    Code:
    Outgoing Server – SMTP
    Server: smtp.aol.com
    Port: 465
    Security: SSL/TLS
    Username: Your full email address.
    Password: Your password.

    Have you tried this as sending server as Dalchina wrote;

    Code:
    Outgoing Server – SMTP
    Server: smtp.aol.com
    Port: 465
    Security: SSL/TLS
    Username: Your full email address.
    Password: Your password.
If it's not working try smtp.gmail.com. It works for me. I have many different incoming servers (accounts) But smtp.gmail.com as sending server. It has worked for years. Btw. I have Thunderbird 102.8.0, 32 bit version.

I will try that but I looked back at what he said
    Code:
    Server: imap.aol.com.
    Port: 993.
Thunderbird does not allow SMTP for outgoing email. Only available are IMAP and POP3

    Code:
    http://desmond-otoole.co.uk/AOL-T-1.jpg
    http://desmond-otoole.co.uk/AOL-T-2.jpg
    FAILED AGAIN.

    Code:
If it's not working try smtp.gmail.com.
So I need to scrap using AOL on Thunderbired even though an expert was able to get it working on windows 11 no problems. Or do you say use use gmail to access AOL?

And thank you for your reply.

Why haven't you posted screenshots of your Tbird settings?

Was that last post for me?

For a refresh. An agent at easy space successfully was able to set up my email account on his windows 11 computer with the same version of Thunderbird. We have checked and double checked the settings. It doesn’t work on my windows 10 with same version of Thunderbird. I thought I should mention this point.

The original settings as per the instructions
    Code:

Again, thank you very much indeed for your reply.

Alas, still no Tbird screenshot. Let me illustrate for you then: e.g.

Thanks- suggest you don't post your full email address- maybe that one's a fake in which case fine.

From post #2 - seems your port should be 993?

    To post a screenshot:
    a. create the image file
    b. upload it thus:
