System Restore will not turn on

Hi there. Got a strange situation on a newly configured win 10 machine. On the PC properties, System protection does not show the actual drive Windows is on. 'System Protection' is greyed out. In 'Configure' I can not remove the 'Disable system protection'. When I go to services, volume shadow was turned to 'manual'. I asked it to be 'automatic'. No change. In the registry, there is no tab for 'restore' under Local Machine/software/policies/microsoft/windowsNT. How can I correct this situation? Of course I am logged in as administrator. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi, if your problem relates to VSS, this can be relatively intractable.
    See:
    Can't enable System Restore

    (I searched the forum for
    System Restore greyed out
for you - you can find more results if needed).

You can try this guide: (it comes from Macrium, but troubleshoots VSS)
How to troubleshoot Microsoft Volume Shadow copy Service errors (VSS)

Note that Macrium Reflect does include a tool that attempt to fix VSS problems.
You'll find a reference in this huge thread
    Macrium Reflect Backup Failures
which ends up with an in-place upgrade repair install to fix the VSS problems.

Thanks, Dalchina. Adding the registry key with the link 'Can't enable System Restore' did the trick. It worked immediately after that. Appreciate your help.
