Hi, have you researched the error code at all?

My standard recommendation was to leave at least 500Mb of unallocated space on the system disk as Windows sometimes needs to create a new Recovery partition, which I guess this is about. Now these can be bigger, I believe, so I'd increase that to 1.2Gb just in case.

If in doubt and the above does not help you then please post a screenshot of your Windows partitions using Minitool Partition Wizard, expanding columns if necessary to make all text visible. Thanks.

Many people upgrade their PCs to operating systems not supported by their manufacturer. Whilst this works for many, for some it can cause problems, like using anything outside its proven specification.

    I note:
    You have a 1Tb drive
You are using the older MBR patition structure.
You have only a tiny amount used on the drive (3%) suggesting you've installed nothing and may have no critical data on it.
    Is that correct?

There is no unallocated space on the drive.

As it seems to be a second hand PC (refurbished) I suggest you simply do a clean install of Win 10.

That means you end up with Windows only- you will lose any installed programs and personal data.

    Would that be acceptable?

If so here are the tutorials to follow:
    1. Download a Win 10 iso:

    2. Create a bootable disk: (or you could burn a DVD if you have a DVD drive)

    3. How to do a clean install:

YES thats right only just got it.
I am not savvy enough to do a clean install and have no burner i dont think on my pc or windows 10 back up disk
is having it on an old partition a big deal? if not then I am fine leaving it??

will i still be able to get all the other updates, if so then unlesss there are any downsides to keeping as it is I would sooner leave it
    is this update important?

    Hi RAZZ1.

The V1709 is a Feature update and is the next "release" of Windows 10. To answer the question do you need it we need to understand what you have.

Right click start, left click run, type Winver, enter. Please post Version and OS Build number.

You can reference this chart to see how long your current version will be on support.

Run SFC Command in Windows 10

The links Dalchina gave has a link to create a USB key with Windows 10 on it. Currently it would be V1709.

Clean installs sound scary, they aren't but lots of people would rather avoid. You still need to create a bootable USB thumb drive that Dalchina gave you the link for. You need it to boot and should something go horrible wrong in what I'm going to recommend you need software to re-install (clean).

You have the MiniTool Partition software already installed so assuming Dalchina's resolution is correct you could resize you C: to create that unallocated space.

Please post your version version and I would like to hear Dalchina's thought on this approach. You must create the USB drive. Things go wrong when we aren't prepared.

How did you check this? Dell uses a service tag number and express tag number which can be found on the back of the computer. Find that then go here..... Support | Dell US

then input the number. Then check to see if you have all the updates for the PC to include in BIOS updates.
