I have the Picture Manager of MS Office 2010 installed , its the only thing I choosed with the setup.
Now Windows-updates is trying to update the Office 2010 ( SP2 ,etc.) , how can I prevent it from updating ?
And ; are these updates usefull when only the Picture Manager is installed ?

    Hi pietcorus2

Start > Settings > Update and Security> Bottom of right side > show Advanced Options > Top line in Window that opens, remove check mark.

I don't think there is a way in the Office product. Seems you have to ask for updates in the Help menu.

I would take the updates. It won't be new functionality, could be error fixes but more likely Security Patches.

Yes, you mean "receiving updates for other products" in the advanced update-options , in Win10 ?
I think if you switch this option off , you will , indeed, receive no office updates , but you will get no other updates either anymore !
So , maybe not a good solution . Im not interested in the ( bloated) security updates , only in real functional updates for the only Off.2010-program I installed ; Picture Manager .

You will get all updates for Windows if you shut this off. It is for other MS products as it states.

Security updates are the most important type of update, they protect you.

Ok, so no Off.2010 updates when switched off.
Still receiving all other updates ( adobe flash, security, etc. ) , if so this is a working solution , with no other important updates switched off , besides the office-updates .............??

Switched off, you get all the updates for the Windows system - this includes Cumulative Updates, security patches, Adobe Flash (which is supplied as part of Windows by Microsoft) and Defender definitions. What you won't get is updates for other installed Microsoft programs that were not included in Windows, such as Office.

If you were using other Office products besides Picture Manager (such as Excel, Word, etc.) then turning off security updates for Office would be a bad idea. I can't see Picture Manager on its own as being much of a security risk, though there may be bug fixes included in the updates. In the end, it's your choice.

Yes, Office 2016 Click to Run installed also , but this updates inside the Office 2016 , so not with Win-updates .
Just checked on virtual machine ; SP2 etc. does not improve Picture Manager , besides its ridiculous bloated.........
So, thanks for all help , will not install SP2 ,etc for Picture Manager only , coz its not an improvement of the Picture Manager .
So I can switch off the advanced update-option also............!

I have to ask, why would you block security updates. Not challenging you, would just like to understand your perspective. If you wouldn't mind, otherwise just ignore this post.

There is no way they would be improving a seven year old product. They are strictly closing errors or fixing holes.

    Take the Service Pack anyway.
It's probably going to smooth the functionality and certainly the security of any of the Office features.
    It's not like it's GB's large!
