    windows 10 # KB4043961 upgrade / update problem

Yesterday I checked for new windows updates and found #KB4043961 needed to be installed . It took almost 2 hours with several requested restarts . Once it displayed 100% complete and I completed the final restart , I went back in to updates and clicked on" update history" like I have dozens of times before to verify it had completed successfully. Much to my surprise there were only two updates displayed and they were two Adobe flash player updates ! The KB #4043961 update was not displayed as successful or unsuccessful , it simply had disappeared ! All of the previous successful updates were gone as well . This is the first time I have experienced a problem with updates since I upgraded to windows 10. My computer still tells me I am up to date and even tells me the time it was last checked and I don't seem to be experiencing any problems with the computer . Personally I think if all those dozens of former updates had actually been wiped out I would have been experiencing a lot of problems by now Appreciate any constructive ideas about what might have caused this .

    thanks

The Update History page on my PC is also void of any of the installed updates.

Ol' trusty Control Panel however does list all the installed updates including the latest Adobe Flash Player update.

    Welcome to TenForums @flyguy3

A simple cumulative update doesn't take two hours and several restarts. What you have just experienced is the Fall Creators Update being installed. The Cumulative Update KB4043961 Windows 10 v1709 Build 16299.19 is the first cumulative update for version 1709 and would have automatically been included in the process that has just upgraded you to the Fall Creators Update. As it was installed during your upgrade that's probably why it isn't listed.

An upgrade to a newer version of Windows 10 always clears the update history because all previous updates are now no longer installed - they were only applicable to your previous version of Windows 10 (probably that was 1703, the Creators Update). The Fall creators update was released on 17th October and would have been delivered to you automatically through Windows Update.

You can confirm this by running Winver. The Fall Creators Update with the latest cumulative update is version 1709, os build 16299.19.

Your installed updates shows no Windows updates before 29th October. This is what you'd expect to see if you too had just got the Fall Creators Update. All previous updates are now irrelevant, as they were for your previous version of Windows.
