The update shouldn't make things worse. The temperature rise could be Windows settling in, re-indexing, downloading updates even if they don't work, etc.

I think you have bigger issues then just Updates. If update jumps in with error messages. Known your data is backed up, please say yes, I would investigate the possibility of a clean install. Yes more work but a better product out the other end.

Next time you get an error message you need to do a screen print a post the message, it helps the members help.

If you do a clean install then run updates it should work. No software that cleans or optimizes registry, no extra privacy software or tweaks.

Just a clean install and updates. If that fails need to rethink situation. Bad drive ???

Thinking bad storage or flaky sector. Now would that sector always be used for updates, no. Something is corrupting something (very technical).

Agree with you though, if it was impacting updates it would likely impact other processes or apps.

As I said if you have a problem with updates right after clean install there is an issue. Question would be how to isolate. Maybe you have another drive and could install on it and see if problem replicates or disappears. One thing eliminated one thing and you move on to next.

    Are you overclocking?

Hi aris003. Not sure for this issue we need specs but they very well could tweak something.

Regarding the Fall Creators Update ....

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update coming October 17th 2017

Giving this some more thought what if it is your install media that has got the error? You could wait a couple of weeks or you could download a new copy of the media creation tool, the current one will download V1703, and get new installation media.
