    Disable Automatic Updates

Right now, after installing Windows 10, I only have the option to Automatically Install Updates or Notify to Schedule Restart.

This is a problem, I want to be able to choose what drivers I install. I don't want windows automatically installing all the craptastic 3rd party software that comes with things like my phone, keyboard and mouse.

I just want the default options windows 8.1, windows 7, windows xp, vista had back.

That's what it's suppose to show just like in the example screenshots in the tutorial posted above.

    What didn't work?

I did all the instructions right. It greys out the drop down menu and says the message in red font.

That's what it should do when you have a policy set that overrides the Windows Update settings in the Settings app.

It sounds like it worked to me.

So now that I know it;s worked. Will I be able to install updates the same way I could like in windows 7/8.1. With a checklist where I could pick and choose?

    Not quite.

You'll get a notice that you have updates available. You can then click on Download or Install in Windows Update to install them.

If you don't want to install an update, then you would need to first hide it.
