My last successful update version was build 413. Each cumulative update since then has failed to install. Latest message was "2017-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4038788) - Error 0x8e5e0147". Any suggestions on how I can rectify?

Sometimes the Windows Update needs to be reset. It can get out-of-wack for a variety of reasons under different circumstances. Try the reset procedure found here on one of our tutorials. Post back, please, with your results. Thanks, TC.

I tried running the file but it failed. Various messages but some I captured are:
"Cannot reset 'Windows Update' (wuauserv) service failed to stop"
(I failed to capture some of the other messages - too fast for me)
A new screen and "System error 5 has occurred - Access denied"
Windows update is unchanged (obviously). Any other options perhaps?
