I just want to chime in.. I almost gave up thinking I lost my genuine copy of Windows. I got the update message this morning, installed Windows 10 but opted to clear everything. It went about doing its own thing. Setup froze at 60% when it rebooted it got stuck at the blue squares with no loading indicator.
I realized I had my x-52 pro plugged in, I unplugged it (my assumption is Windows hung trying to find drivers for it) and I reset the machine. It went back to 60%, and it made it through the end.
Windows 10 booted fine. Then came the Activation fun times. I searched and searched and searched until somehow came across this thread. I had been trying to Activate that damn thing for 2 hours. I even called Microsoft and had the tech try to activate it by phone, that did not work, he "forwarded" me to some dark void where I kept hearing this loud woman announcer talk about Windows 10 features. After about 10 minutes of hearing that loop on speaker, I hung up.
I ran the batch file that someone created here which keeps calling the slmgr to do automatic activation. After about 40 some times of clicking on the "OK" box. It finally activated.
Conclusion: Microsoft's servers are being bombarded at the moment. Therefore your packets aren't making it to the activation server and you're never making a handshake. As soon as you get through, you'll activate. It's hilarious, but we don't live in a perfect world.
Now i did a clean install with the w10 pro key that everyone got after i activated my machine once.
Now i get error the key has been blocked so it doesnt work guys, there is no such thing as a clean install.
Screw microsoft really, if you got yours activated stay there dont do clean installs until later releases or fixes you wont be able to activate from clean install, the key is blocked if its not an upgraded copy.
Now i have to install win 8 and upgrade again yuhuuu aint MS a biatch.
Question, so did you install it using a USB key and boot straight to the stick? If you did that, you should have been prompted to enter a key. Did you enter the Insider key there? Or did you skip that window?
Just trying to understand. I did a Clean Install, but I did it through the MediaCreationToolx64. When it ran, it asked me whether I want to keep my Apps/Settings or do a clean install. I picked the latter. So far everything is A-Ok over here, minus that silly Activation glitch MS is having at the moment.
ya i booted streight to stick, and skiped the key input, and says blocked :/
here is from another post that i wrote
ya i successfully upgraded my 7 ultimate to 10 pro, but now its saying my key is blocked after i did a clean install even thoue i performed that initial upgrade using the GWX app
well this wont be of much help but i was working with Microsoft tech support, and they only suggested me to ether wait 3 days to see if a update fixes it, or reinstall windows 7 ultimate and then upgrading again from there, and just Not do the clean install of 10
they were saying its a error on their computers and they were remote assisting my computer and there was nothing they could do
