I tried deleting everything in the download folder specified by OP, i also even tried deleting files in "$Windows.~BT" that i saw in another how to site... nothing worked. i tried 3 times already. first it said it was downloading just over 2.7gb, next it was nearly 6gb i presume because i deleted more this time. regardless this solution does not work for me. anybody have any idea why, or how to fix it?

I can't delete all the folders in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution
Ok, you are in the wrong location..... Go back to this statement........::
1. Go to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download and delete all files in that folder only the files in download folder
not the download folder !
the way to get to the actual folder, click start and paste that C location in to the search or run box, which ever you have. and hit enter. Next, up in the search window click that folder. Now you can delete everything. Then go back to the next directive which will be about the Command Prompt. The rest works fine. My windows 10 is downloading now.... 7:20PM 07-30-2015

I tried method 1 but after a lot of downloading, I ended up getting the same error code. Method 2 creating the AllowOSUpgrade in the registry did work for me.
