First time around, I got this when trying to upgrade. And then my Windows 10 icon disappeared. I ran this 3rd party utility to check and it said I was missing KB3035583, so I ran Windows updates for 8.1 and eventually got that cleared. So I ran it again... wouldn't show the icon. I went the manual route. All was fine. About 30 minutes into the whole thing, all the software files downloaded, all the configuration checks completed, it asks to start the installation. I proceed. And at about 10% of the way there, the computer reboots and I'm told "Restoring to your previous version of Windows".
Same error as above, once more. I don't understand it. Any ideas about what is going on? This is a brand new HP laptop with 8.1 installed and a sticker inviting me for my free upgrade... which I did accept and have an email confirmation. Now it's July 30th... am I screwed and have to pay for an upgrade? At this point, I may just skip it altogether and continue with W8.1.
