In the left lower corner search when you type winver is will open a pop up about windows.
View that an post an image into the thread.
HP computers typically come with UEFI diagnostics that check all of the hardware.
Open the HP website > software and drivers > view all of the available drivers and find the latest UEFI diagnostics.
See if you can download and install the latest version, 6.4
HP PC Hardware Diagnostics | HP® Official Site
Once you have the latest version of the UEFI diagnostics installed plan to run the hardware tests to run overnight.
Power on the computer and repetitively click the F2 or F10 keys. Then navigate in the bios to the UEFI diagnostics.
Then run a loop until failure test.
If there is any component failure, even the battery, the testing will abort.
If you view the monitor the next day and the loop until failure is still running that is a good sign.
If it has made at least 1 pass then press the keyboard escape key and then confirm a pass in the UEFI log.
Once these studies have completed you will have ruled in or ruled out hardware problems.
Then you can move onto software problems.

    1) Create a bootable windows 10 iso: Download Windows 10

    2) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste these commands:
    3) sfc /scannow
    4) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    5) chkdsk /scan
    6) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

Attempt an in place upgrade repair using the bootable windows 10 iso.

    This is the method:
    1) power on the computer and boot to the desktop.
    2) open file explorer > this PC > local C: drive
    3) insert the windows 10 iso into any USB port
    4) identify the windows 10 iso within file explorer and click on it
    5) look for a file named setup or setup.exe
    6) launch the setup file
    7) choose language, time, currency, and keyboard
    8) do not click on install
    9) instead look in the lower left and click on repair your computer
    10) follow the text and images in this link to complete the in place upgrade repair.

Read the information within the link about how this is supposed to save files and applications.
At the same time if it is possible it will upgrade the computer.
You do not need to be connected to the internet and it is preferable that you turn off wireless using a hardware button and make sure that there is no ethernet connection.

If this upgrade fails you will then need to find the panther logs, cbs log and attempt to translate the language and error codes to find out about the failure to upgrade.
If this upgrade works then you have solved many problems at once.

I Won't be able to do the last part until next week as I currently don't have a flash drive with me, but I ran everything else I could and no component errors were found.

Operating system integrity violations/corruption was found in the sfc /scannow.
The dism command did not complete.

Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:

The Windows build is very old. There have been at least 3 upgrades available over the last year.
    6) How come there was no upgrade until now?
    7) What is the malware history?
    8) Please post the HP UEFI diagnostic report results.

    9) Run HDTune: http://www.hdtune.com/to check the health,
scan for errors, no quick scan but full scan
    run a benchmark.

It may take some time, but please take the time you need to perform it properly.
When above is done please make screenshots of the following

.6/7) The Reason why it wasn't until now is I wans't able to access my latptop until recently as I was experiencing a "Handle Is Invalid" Error on login and at the time I could not find a solution until somewhat recently, Once managing to log back in the next issue was there was many path finding errors so it was extremely difficult to get around on my laptop until I reset enough of the paths to get around without problems.

Run the DM log collector which will collect multiple folders/files including msinfo32, dxdiag, mini dumps, event logs etc.:

In the logs there were many windows update failures as expected.
Let us know when you have the bootable windows 10 iso.
Immediately before the in place upgrade repair please change each the cbs and the dism files to old.
scannow and restorehealth will be run creating new files.
Then the in place upgrade repair will be done.
If it fails you will look for the panther folder.
Some of the files are by default hidden so file explorer view must be modified to display hidden files when searching.
There were integrity violations or operating system corruption that was fixed by scannow.
By creating new cbs and dism files without the corruption it may make the task of deciphering the log contents less complex.

    1) perform a windows update
    2) open administrative power shell and type or copy and paste: Get-WindowsUpdateLog
This may take 5 to 10 minutes to complete.
Upon completion there will be a txt file on the desktop.
    3) Using a one drive or drop box please post a share link into the thread.
